Description:

Another fantastic deal from Arianet. The Value2800 Intel PC. Perfect for a starter system, as a second PC, Study PC or even for some gaming fun. The Value 2800 is built into the Aria Xen Custom chassis thats an exclusive to us at Aria , the case has superior airflow and power management. The 520w PSU is more than able to handle any reasonable upgrade you decide to throw at it.

Nifty USB, mic/audio ports on the right hand side are hidden under a flap that allows easy access and maintains style. The motherboard supports a wide range of Intel Core 2, Pentium and Celeron D processors. Support for utp 4GB of DDR2 (Dual Channel memory), so plenty of room to expand from the 1GB that is preinstalled. Internal slots are 1 x PCI Express (x16), 1 x PCI Express (x1), 2 x PCI, 1 x HDMR, this means you wont be short of future upgrade options while the onboard Intel Graphics Media Accelerator and High Definition 5.1 Audio will satisfy even the most demanding users straight out of the box.

Faster Networking is via a Realtek 100MBps LAN that is built-in, as is an amazing 6 USB Ports 2.0 Ports (2 Front, 4 Rear). The genuine Intel 2800 Celeron D CPU gives you capable power too, its no slacker and is the favourite CPU for many of our most reliable workstations.. With a SATA hard drive with 80GB of space, you are spoilt. A 52X optical drive is included too.

Outstanding build quality and future upgradeability make this system hard to beat on any level

Poor value.

FYI, the Dell in this deal (now expired as the £20 discount has ended, but the price is still only £182 ) has a Pentium Dual Core 2GHZ processor (E2180). This Pentium Dual E2180 2GHz processor is three times as fast as the Intel Celeron D336 2.8GHz.
The Dell also has a larger HD and includes Windows Vista Premium which makes it generally a much better machine.

There is no indication whether this Aria deal comes with an operating system (but I assume not).

Infact if this has no OS, then even this DELL SC440 server is a better deal.

Cold.

I assume there is a silent BAD in "Arianet Value 2800 Intel PC"

The top Del deal is no longer, and the server deal has 512 Ecc memory which is expensive to upgrade, and it has little facility for a decent graphics card.

The motherboard in the Aria system supports the newer 45nm cpus, so with 1gb extra memory, it takes full size PCI-e graphics cards = a 9600gt 512 graphics card (£70ish) and any of the core 2 duo cpu's this could be easily turned into a gaming system!

Max. CPU Support Celeron D 365, Celeron 460, Celeron E1200, Pentium 4 571, Pentium 4 672, Pentium Dual Core E2220, Pentium D 840/960, Core 2 Duo E4700, Core 2 Duo E6850, Core 2 Duo E8500, Core 2 Extreme X6800

You could upgrade the graphics card with a hack(saw!). However this Opteron is now better value as it uses nonECC and takes a normal PCI-E graphics card.
AND it is only £105 !

If one is going to attempt a CPU upgrade, then they are more than likely technically capable and therefore able of building a PC from scratch, which is preferable (i.e. you would choose a LGA775 motherboard for starters).

IMO this deal is only worthwhile considering as it stands, and in that respect it is poor value. The recently posted Opteron deal outperforms it in both speed and value for money.
