We all use it so finding cheap bog rolls is of interest to everyone!

Lidl are currently doing 24 rolls of Charmin for £5.69. That's under 24p per roll!

By contrast, Asda are selling Charmin for £6.79 for only 18 rolls. That works out at a massive 38p per roll!

Basically, the Lidl offer saves you around 37% in real terms on the Asda price.

Before anyone scoffs this offer will save an average family of four around £45 per year if they were to stock up..

I tend to shop in both Asda and Lidl. Today I happened to have a Lidl receipt in my pocket whilst shopping at Asda and decided to check a few prices...

Sharwoods curry sauce...£1.35 in Asda...99p in Lidl

Custard Cream biscuits 43p in Asda...34p in Lidl

Carlsberg Lager...£10 for 18 cans in Asda (55p each)...£3.99 for 8 cans in Lidl (50p each)

4 Pint milk...£1.34 in Asda...£1.30 in Lidl.

I have long been an advocate of Lidl but never realised the price differential could be so high.

I'd suggest everyone take receipts from other stores with them when they shop and work out where is really cheaper in their locality.

Even if you save 10% on your weekly shopping then that could add up to many hundreds of pounds over a year. Put the money saved in a jar and reward yourself with a new PC or widescreen telly in a years time.

If any offers that are cheaper in Lidl than Asda are in the regular Lidl flyer, get Asda to do an 'ad match' (they may try and pretend they know nothing about such a thing but just tell them to ring Head office who will tell them ALL about it, that should sort them out).

There are not any Homebargains store in the South East. The nearest one to me is 53 miles away in Northampton :-(
