To be fair all budget bikes are a bit rubbish. Ok for a saturday afternoon ride around the local park but not for off roading, therefore it has no need to be a full suspension bike.
Wont vote cold but cant give you any heat! :) Dont forget the helmets!!

Yes

1st hand experience....the wheel bearings/fittings etc shattered on 1st use, they sent a replacement, the same happened again....eventually got a refund.

Bought a £50 suspension bike from them a few months ago, no problems, solid build. Spent £170 on a bike a couple of years ago and that was much worse build quality.

All cheap full-suspension bikes are crap.

Manufacturers have spent years trying to make bike frames as rigid as possible, introducing suspension at the back means all your energy goes into compressing the suspension instead of pedalling the bike unless it's extremely well designed (like hundreds of pounds worth of design and build). Unless you want to make it unnecessarily difficult to go anywhere ('cos you want to get fit) then buy a bike without rear suspension.

Halfords are doing a 50% off the Apollo range of bikes at the moment and ....
I bought one for my dad a while ago and its still going strong and hes 18 stone ... but getting lighter due to riding every day :)
They are fair quality cycles but need to be checked thoroughly when setting them up.
Halfords will do setup but can be a bit hit and miss depending on the mechanic.

My experience of cheap bikes is ... Dangerous on the whole.
Pedals have slipped or broken in the past. Chains have slipped off crank and teeth have bent under torque on the freewheel even. Tyres no better and I even a snapped rear fork bar ... but that was due to a very big pothole but cheap is as cheap does.. Forest would say.

Now I invest in my bikes and don't scrimp if I can avoid it, they are better built and last longer, look better and above all don't fail you so easily.
