My thoughts yesterday as I got 5.

Please don't mistake these for real ale...only the Bottle Conditioned beers are REAL...most bottled beer is the equivalent of Keg in a bottle....yuk

Well it's ok beer and at a reasonable price but I do prefer the Polish Okocim beer which is only 99p at Aldi.

I would also prefer a pint of real cask ale.

However, for drinking at home, the Shepherd Neame ales are quite pleasant and very good value at 99p. I bought five of each in Lidl this afternoon.

Incidentally, for the purists, Shepherd Neame do a lovely bottle conditioned real ale. I think it is called 1698 or similar.

I second the opinion that only bottle conditioned beer can be described as "Real" ale.
However, £1 a bottle is still a bargain!
Out Lidl have been selling this stuff for £1 for about a month now. I noticed the other day that our local Asda has followed suit and is also offering various botlled ales for £1 so it's worth checking there if you have no Lidl nearby....

Now thats what you call a flipping mans drink haha, love the stuff, heat added and rep added for a cracking deal, usualy the cheapest these go for is around 2 for £3 at tesco.

Some decent ales there.
Sure beats the hell out of that fizzy tasteless stuff called lager :)

Depending what beer you prefer, Sainsbury's may be an equally good option.

They currently have packs of 8 x 500ml bottles of Hobgoblin for £7.99, so the same price as Lidl.

A range of ales are also on a 4 for the price of 3 offer. This includes Batemans XXXB Ale, 500ml bottles at £1.39, so £1.04 per bottle and 500ml bottles of Mann's Brown Ale at £1.04, so 76p each.

Great deal - even better than the Majestic offers, which are normally the best
Shame I stocked up in Calais last week!

Great price

A word of warning though - went to lidl at lunchtime to by a bottle of each for my dad for christmas. Got stopped at the till and was told I had to produce ID, though this was funny as Im 29. Showed the security guard and manager my driving licence which clearly states I was born in 1979. I was then told they only accept photo ID, which as I dont take my passport shopping is a problem.

Left with no beer and felt like a right muppet at the checkout.:x

Gutted. I stopped by Lidls especially for this deal, but the shelves were empty !!

So I went to Tesco's because they had given me a voucher with my clubcard statement for 50p off ESP. Only to find that ESP has miraculously turned into the most expensive beer in the shop.

I stopped there a couple of days ago and the shelves were empty too. Always seems to happen when i go to Lidl for an offer, I won't bother again.
