Right this is going to take a bit of work to type up and a bit of work if you want to buy, at least 1 phone call will be required to a local store to get them to check local stores for stock.

Right 2 packs..

1: VP51 Multipack. Comprises a Vax Spruce, 1200W Upright vacuum and a (rechargeable?) hand held. CODE : 5012512122274 (£79 down to £69)
2: VP54 Total Home Cleaning Pack. Comprises Vax Spring, 1400w Upright vacuum and a little 1200W drag along. CODE : 5012512122588 (£89 down to £69)

Now regarding the original prices, if you check argos you will see that for example the Vax Spring has an RRP of £120 on its own (current argos price £60)! Also for reference Littlewoods sell similar packs for about £200!

So if you want to try for these, get the contact phone number for the local branch from the B&Q website and ask them to do a local stock check using the code numbers above. I don't know if you'll get lucky or not but can confirm that there are two packs of the VP54 left at CANTERBURY branch (sturry road I think it is).

Good luck lol.

Chances are they didn't have any anyway lol. We got the Strood branch to check for VP51's and they said Tunbridge wells had 3 and Dartford had 1, called TW and they claimed that the computer was wrong and they didn't think they actually had any, no ****er at Dartford would answer the phone:x

The wife eventually phoned Canterbury and was told they no VP51's but had 3 VP54's so we reserved one and set off. Had a look around the branch and did actually see the other 2, shelf edge label still said £89 but it goes through ok at £69.

Nice bargain as I was after a cheap carpet washer and nearly spent £130 on one last week:-D

This is basically what you get in the VP54 kit, except its all colourcoded in blue:thumbsup:

And the big vacuum's a beast, made ultra light work of the cat fur on the rug:giggle:

hey shengis , they cant find it on the barcode you have listed? any chance of checking the number again, also do these wash the carpet or just hoover it?

Codes are definately right, pic from the offer leaflet :

As I said you get 3 items in each pack, 2 vacuum cleaners and a carpet washer. They are clearance lines though so maybe the store you called sold out and deleted them from the system?

By the way, says 'available from larger stores only', but they should really have it on the sytem in all stores wether they stock it or not:thinking:

The Vax spring is a carpet washer. However, my Mums got it and it isnt very effective, especially compared to a Bissell.

You mean they actually answered the phone! Consider yourself honoured, they kept picking up then instantly hanging up when we called:giggle: Canterbury might still have the 2 they had yesterday if thats any good to you?

OR...

Be cheeky, they might offer an extra 20% discount as its out of the box stock, they do in Gillingham ;-)

Must be a B&Q policy. I just rang the Blackburn depot twice and that's exactly what happened to me. Won't deal with any company that does that.

Bellamy, as you've found out, you can't order online. You need to phone and get the store customer services to track them down on their system. B&Q website sucks bigtime, hardly has anything on there that you can find instore.

Shengis - you are a legend!

Really wanted the VP54.

Went to 3 big stores - 2 had no stock, another had 1 display - but refused to sell it as they said they couldn't sell the display models - no matter how much i argued (as they're selling display models of lawnmowers and bbq's) they wouldn't budge :-(

But then, popped into a small store i saw, none on display, but requested a stock enquiry anyway and they showed 5 X VP54's instock!
Thought it was a stock error, but found them on a pallet on the top racking - Result.

SA filled in a drop-down request for tonight, so can pick it up tomorrow

Thanks so much Shengis - I printed off that photocopy you downloaded which made it alot easier to explain to SA's.

Now, if only i knew a B&Q employee to use their 20% discount card :whistling:

I came v close to buying these but went for the professional carpet cleaner because of what I have seen at my parents house and friends places before and after instead which did an amazing job earlier today turning a rather stained dining room/lounge carpet into looking new again and considering the heavy stains of my fellow tenants have done to the carpets here since the decoration several years ago it was needed and I doubt a VAX could of matched it...

I asked him about the "poor electrical" jobs as he described them and asked about them. Basically the 20bhp generator in his van for his industrial cleaner = 7x more powerful than then a 3bhp max that an equivalent household 13A socket can achieve meaning they just can't match em. Albeit, he would say that, but it sounded feasible...

Would be nice to know if anyone has done a direct comparison or knows of this industry...

not sure on the poor electrical jobs as your man puts it , but there is of course a diffrence to a heavy duty proffessional machine compared to a vax, they are intended for domestic home use on average soiled carpets, the companys regulate the solutions so they are resonably safe to use by the consumer.

i have a vax and have used it for around 5 years at 6 month intervals and my carpets a clean , if you use it regular there isnt any reason it should become desperate enough to warrant a heavy duty job ! :w00t:

im gonna collect my vp54 for my mum who has paid out for proffessional cleaning due to illness and im gonna do her carpets for her to save the £50 she is being charged for two carpets!

cheers shengis ;-)

I have to admit I'm a lazy fooker so was nice having him do a pro job so quick and nicely undoing years of neglect.

He quoted £170 for all of my 4bedroom semi which he said every year for 5 people to live is whats needed, once every 3 years I reckon is more apt, even then he only did the hallway, living room & dining room/2nd lounge @ £40 minimum charge where 90% of the damage is done, rest of the house still has carpets looking as new when done 6 years ago.

So £40 every 2-3years vs. 6monthly grafting... as I said, I'm a lazy fooker :)

In case anyones still interest, I saw at least 3 still available at the Eastleigh store
