Before you take out anything like this check your home contents insurance. Recently claimed on our contents insurance for one of my kids phones and it was hassle free. Insurance was with Tesco and they were brilliant about it all.

Is u not got home insurance use a friends policy works fine for me
      RedOnRed
Household insurance generally isn't equivalent to a specialist mobile policy. For example, our mobile policy includes accidental damage and breakdown cover and what you will most likely find is that after reporting a loss or making a claim on your household policy your no claims bonus and/or premium will be affected.

Another example of anything iPhone getting cold, this is a good deal for insurance.

This cover is only valid for phones up to £500 which means you need to get the "Black" level of insurance at £67.39 for phones over £500 like the iPhone 4s 32GB and 64GB.

Looking at the terms, this actually looks like a pretty good deal, can't understand the coldness unless I'm missing out on something?

Is it a good deal generally? not saying though that this isn't cheap for iphone insurance.

You can probably get an iphone for about £500, is it really worth paying that amount of money to insure the thing? My house insurance is £200 and covers my house falling down and all the contents up to £15,000. My car insurance is admittedly £800 but covers me up to millions of pounds of damage.

Yet you'd pay 10% of the value of a product each year to insure it.

There is a reason companies like you to take out insurance on inexpensive products like washing machines and mobiles, they charge what seems like a small premium to insure something inexpensive

Yes you are missing something. Read the Exclusions in the terms and conditions. 2G could be and issue if you don’t report ant loss or theft within 24 hours they wont pay out.

Seems like there’s a whole host of reasons why they wont pay out.

UK t&c's say it does not cover accidental damage, is this just a US thing?

Hi jaypr, Point taken, thanks, but these look pretty standard in mobile phone insurance?

i took out the square trade warranty via amazon for my iphone4 cost £50, it does not cover loss or theft but all accidental damage for 3 years. If i lose it or it gets stolen then i have household insurance but as others have said it will increase your policy if you claim on it, i believed i got more chance of damage to it then losing it, so felt £50 for 3 years was worth it

Has to be taken out with 60 days of purchasing phone, and also phone has to be purchased new for a retailer, rather than somewhere like ebay

Agreed, which is why you really need to read the T&C's to make sure that when something happens your covered.

I did actually loose my 32GB iPhone 4 whilst on holiday in the US back in May. It fell out my pocket when i was on a roller coaster, needless to say it never got handed in. I'm pretty sure it got smashed when it hit the ground as i couldn't locate it using the find my iPhone app on my wifes phone.

Anyway my home insurance covered it and it was all very easy, so you might want to check to see if your already covered.

My Samsung B130 cost me £7.99 in 2007,it has a PAYG sim with £7 of credit on it. The phone has a trade in value of £1 in Cex. Would this policy be suitable for me?

      This one's dodgy.

Why wouldn't this come under "loss"?

I personally would not got for a cheap bog standard policy like this for something so valuable, i would make sure it is completely covered for everything
