I am trying to create a "One Stop shop" for people to find the current cheapest prices for Pro Duo and Micro SD cards.

For it to work, it means that the thread needs to be updated when prices change etc.
Please let me know in the thread when there is a better price available elsewhere.

The prices listed are for 1 card delivered. There are some better prices around for Micro SD cards if you are purchasing more than one. Ask in the thread for these, or ask in the "Deal Requests" forum.

I haven't included special offers, PC World pricematch and vouchers. If there are special offers, please list these in the main thread.

This thread isn't the place to submit deals, but for a summary of what is out there.
I am not including the class of cards, as it's my belief that most people are not interested in this at this point in time.

Thanks to all those that submitted the original threads.

PRO DUO or M2

This is a solution for those that want to have a Pro Duo card with a bit of flexibility.
It is a Sandisk Micro M2 that comes supplied with a Pro Duo adaptor.

I have one of these in my Sony PSP to run my downloaded (All legal) games from.
It passes the "Magic Gate" test when performed with the PSP.

Note: There are compatibility issues with using these in a PSP, I have now tried it (August 2008) and can confirm that I can use it in my PSP. Some people have reported it working okay, others have had problems.

For those wanting a Micro SD card with an adaptor to Pro Duo, there is this available. Note: It is a 8gb SDHC Micro SD card, and a separate order for an adaptor. Using this method, you will have an 8GB Pro Duo for your PSP for ~£16

The advantage of buying this over a regular Pro Duo is that the Micro SD card is the memory card used in many more devices than a Pro Duo. So when you no longer need it or upgrade, it is easier to sell or find a use for a Micro SD card than it is a Pro Duo.

So for example, you can put in two 8GB Micro SD cards, and then have one 16GB Pro Duo for about £27 in total.

Yes, I suppose anywhere counts that has a track record of sorts.

Deal extreme has a delivery time that most won't wait for though.
I ordered some from them about 5 days ago, and they haven't arrived yet.

If you can provide SKU's/Links it would help me, I will put them in the second post I reserved later.
I intend to put "Others" in this box. :)

Unless this was made sticky I cant see the point of it as no one is going to look back in say 6 months time to find this thread. (Christ I cant even find every thread I satrted even by clicking on my avatar and then clicking show all threads started by v2drinkers!

Sorry but its a good idea but I just dont see it being made sticky and thats the only way it will work.

They don't have "Stickies" anymore.

My thinking of this is that when people put 'Pro Duo' 'cheapest' or 'Micro SD' in the search box, this thread will come up.

It would be easier to find the deal you are looking for instead of looking at 3 or 4 different threads, that may or may not be current. :)
#7
I also think people like the 'thrill' of find a good deal and posting it themselves rather than passing over the glory to your thread.
#8
ficosaneil
why not leave the site as it is and stop reinventing the wheel. There are 000's of common items on the site thats why there's a search box at the top.

I was hoping that you would go away if ignored, but seems not.

I don't want people to stop making their own threads, they can still do this.

This is simply an information thread, some may find it useful others(like you) may not, and can simply ignore it and read something else(hint, hint).

Thank you for your input. :)

Moved back to forums. People should be aware that spitefully spamming a thread is grounds for a ban.

Brown nosing?

It was more of a positive response to the idea rather than the negative responses the original poster had been getting.

I am always on the look out for pro duo or micro sd cards and I feel that a thread like this would benefit.
#14
lumoruk
Yeah I agree it is a helpful post and too many negatives but to rep someone for making a positive comment well that just puts people off speaking their mind just to try and get rep

I think calling someone a "Brown nose" is more likely to put someone off from adding a comment?

I repped the other member for seeing what I was trying to achieve, and posting the first positive comment in the thread that took me a while to research. :)

fair point but that was obviously for a bad deal on my part ...
yours by all accounts is a good deal so perhaps your deal is getting voted cold because of you perhaps :whistling:

perhaps people are fed up of all your sniping comments on most of there posts all the time regardless of whether its a good deal or not......perhaps :whistling:

You should really go out more, talking the time to do a 'my deal's better than your deal' post.
#19
What was this deal again?

If you honestly are not doing this thread to gain more rep then you should post links to the original OP's so that they can get the rep they deserve and not yourself.

How much Rep have I received?

v2drinkers

Also by putting direct links to the sites you are possibly doing HUKD out of affiliate link money from some sites!

Report the thread to Admin, he can then put in his affiliate links if he so wishes, I have little knowledge of affiliate links, and I am not going to spend my time worrying about things like that. :)
#21
AFAIK Any links that are posted are automatically affiliated as they have a script or something that picks up the links and converts them, obviously they don't affiliate if people go the quidco options though.

Back to the topic, I got a 2GB Micro SD from play.com for £6.64 (with the 5% voucher code) today.

Thanks for that.

For some reason, I thought that the play.com voucher expired today.

I will add the Micro SD card section tomorrow. My internet explorer keeps shutting down, so I am going to see if I can uninstall tonight and reinstall it again. :)

Has anybody used the Pro Duo converters with a micoSD card in their psp??

Do they work?? I already have 3 x 2gb microSD cards so was thinking about just getting a converter.

Any thoughts or experiences??

I have got a pro duo converter and can get the 2gb microsd card to work in it fine. However with the 4gb one the psp does not recognise it at all. Tried formatting with the psp connected to the pc via usb but this still didn't work.

If you only want to use your existing cards in it then it should work fine:thumbsup:

However although the microsd cards work in my htc touch the adaptor when using them does not unless you put a 2Gb card in it. so even so in the post some people are getting them working with sdhc cards I am not.

I will add the compatibility issues to the Micro SD to Pro Duo post.

I did think about this, but it would make the thread quite conjested.

There would be nothing to stop me/you or anyone else doing it though.
Do it for the love of trying to simplyfying the process of finding the best price for them(The idea behind the site) as you will get lots of grief from non-believers.

Some "Carts" can't take SDHC Micro cards.

I believe the best cards for "Carts" are Kingston or Toshiba Micro SD cards that are manufactured in Japan. I have mainly used Sandisk ones, and have no problems with them.

This kind of information is subjective though, and prefer to keep it out of the first few posts, and "real life" reports from everyone is much better than me claiming anything.

Thanks for your input.

Firstly, thanks a lot for the thread Saint. :) I think it's really useful to have - it's just a pity that we can't have 'stickies'.

However, I do agree with those that say if you include deals found by other members then you should include credit and links back to those threads as well. It's only common courtesy afterall. :)
