People have been saying that the PS3 is comfortably the most powerful console with a Blue Ray player included, (Blue Ray Players start from around £700 on its own) but still believed that the console was too expensive at £424.99.

I know America was cheaper with the PS3 already but then Sony heard there cries, thusly reducing the price by a further $100 but didnt do the same for us.

Shopto have now gone the extra mile and must of also believed this and thats why theyve now reduced the price to just £349.99 and thrown in a free controller for good measure and all this comes with free fast delivery as well.

Make sure you order quickly, as Im sure the prices cant remain like this for too long and if orders are completed by 5:30pm today, youll most likely receive your console by tomorrow morning.

Hope this helps. :)

I know i'm going to get flamed for saying this but with no games included.... £350 for a designer 3 piece paperweight/doorstop set? Seems a tad pricey to me:?

Well PSN should be able to complement casual players. Until some of the juicy stuff come out later this year. Like LittleBigPlanet beta soon, LocoRoco which is about 95% complete.
Plus the PS3 can do [email protected], if you don't mind leaving your PS3 on all the time.
#3
To be honest, then you can buy the best games that YOU prefere or the films that you want, for example, Fear is £24.99 and last time i checked, Ninja Gaiden was around £30 and that's without a doubt, the best game on the PS3 and one of the best on any of the current formats.

Why should people be lumbered with sub standard games available in the bundles, the more choice, the better it is for everyone in my opinion :)
#4
I have to admit I know nothing of the quality of PS3 games, all greek to me and i'm happy with my £50 Argos Xbox lol. So are the games in the Play.com thread cr*p?
#5
An ok deal, but i'm gonna be waiting for a price drop before christmas :p

To be honest, i don't think it'll be much cheaper than this, the cheapest price on the controller is £27.99, so the console actually works out at £322.

I think the console won't be any cheaper than £300 by xmas and is it really worth waiting 5 months for £22?

And I think the demand at Christmas will make it very hard to get one then...

That was the call on ebay etc at release time though and what really happened? People are getting more savvy to the ways of console manu's and I predict a 360/PS3 price war come november. With any luck.....:-D

to be honest i use mine purely as a media centre at the moment as theres not been much released games wise.saying that 350 for a decent media centre is reasonable plus it looks good under the telly.shengis to tell the truth nothing looks more like a plastic paperweight than an xbox or 360.come to think of it the xbox probably cost more than 350 at time of release

Betelgeus, breezeblock I would have said. I admit MS stuff is ugleeee. The Elite looks quite nice though, even if it is still a brick lol.
#11
Aesthetically, the PS3 is superior, it is also much quiter, doesn't have the same teething problems as the X360 had, has better all round hardware i.e. audio, cpu, graphics output sharper on CRT or TFT, better connectivity, networking and multiple OS compatibility. Surprisingly, Sony have given the end user much more versatility with the machine basically. Home is also coming soon (currently in beta) and will give the 360 a real run for its money.
#12
yes and the elite is roughly this price but no hd-dvd,does it still have the massive psu?.saying that although i have a ps3 i hope it sinks purely because sony bent us brits over then gave us a good shafting as they always like to do.

p.s. the ps3 gpu is a 7800gtx,how outdated is that.stick to our pc's i think

if you got a USA console and added our taxes tey are the same price.
#14
lets hope they give us a2dp and mpg-4.
#15
err hello!! sony removed the ps2 chip from uk systems

They misspelt Blu-ray as 'Blue Ray'!

Folding at home is an utter waste of time, leaving your PC on constantly will cost about £200 a year in electricity.

Now which is going to do more to cure cancer. Some processor cycles on brute force project that'll take years to complete or donating £200 to Cancer Research?

Ninja Gaiden and Virtua Fighter 5 are both highly rated!

Thanks Gary,

All i did was state what was on the site e.g dispatch times for orders, delivery times because of next day couriers and also, i've seen a lot of people talk about the price point being too expensive.

I've listed a few deals on PS3 consoles and have read a lot about it and the general opinion is that it's too expensive and a lot of people were quite annoyed that there wasn't a price drop here like there was in the US.

At least you gave me your reasons behind your cold vote, i list a lot of deals from loads of retailers and i always try and make the deals i post sound appealing, must be because i worked in marketing before.
#23
This has to be one of the best deals for a PS3 right now (except for the one posted earlier). Voted hot!

PS3 +2 GAMES + EXTRA CONTROLER £350

An OK price, but still too rich for my blood. It's £279 or no deal for me.
I did vote it warm though, as this is one of the better deals i've seen for the PS3.
#26
hmm a system idling may use 100w/ph.uk price of electric is about 10p per kw/r.so 25 pence per day.90 pounds per year.mind you im overestimating so probably about £75 but not 200

Don't mistake the technical specification of the hardware for quality of the gaming experience. There's very little quality games that are exclusive to the PS3 (probably Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma right now) that really show off how good the console is. A significant proportion of the cross platform games actually run better on the 360 - EA's new sports line up is running at 60 fps on 360 and only 30 fps on PS3 and that's a visible difference in the smoothness of the animation. I've not doubt this situation will change next year (so please don't let this thread degenerate into a PS3 vs 360 thread) but realistically unless you are also interested in it's Blu Ray capabilities you'd be better waiting until Christmas time or early next year otherwise it's going to be a pretty piece of hardware sat under your TV not doing very much

I have a PS3 and I use it 95% for Blu-Ray films which I get through Lovefilm. I have to say it is a great machine. It looks good, the menus are dead easy and it only took 5 mins to set up the connection to my wireless broadband. I love that it tells me when there's new firmware to be downloaded and that you can download demos for loads of games for free.

As for the Blu-Ray, it is stunning picture and sound (but the DVD style remote is advisable.) Worth the cash for the Blu-ray player alone if you ask me.

FEAR is a good game, But I would not be recommending it over R:FOM or Motorstorm - which are in the £400 bundles. Especially considering it is one of the more sloppy ports to the PS3.

Sorry but that's not true:

Amazon.co.uk price for 60GB PS3 = £419.99

Amazon.com price for 60GB PS3 = $499, approx £243.75 at today's rates

Subtract VAT from the UK price and you get £357.44

So there is a difference of £113.69 between the tax free prices

Notwithstanding this deal price, the reason for that differential is because (too many) people in the UK are prepared to pay it, and Sony will charge the price that they think the market will bear.

In that context this deal isn't too bad, but I tend to agree with the poster who says he'll wait for the price to drop to £279.99. Now that would be a fair deal/price!
#36
So whats better the 360 or the PS3?

no chance, they've got thousands of these still unsold from lauch, no chance of a shortage :p

There's going to be a lot of big exclusive games in the near future and once they come out and there's decent prices on the console, i guarantee there'll be a lot of sales going on.

Shengis, have you been drunk for most of the day? here are your 3 posts, if you need reminding:

So in 3 posts you've said that the ps3 is useless, then said that you knew nothing about it then asked if it's better that the xb360.
Didn't your mother ever tell you to think before you spoke?

Taking quidco into consideration, this deal above is much much better.
