If you had made your point properly in the first place perhaps I would have understood it?

Anyway this deal isnt half bad compared to most bike deals on here. It has an aluminium frame for once and not some crap steel frame that weighs more than than the moon.

Frame material makes very little difference - you need a lot more aluminium than steel for the same strength.

Well your comment makes little sense. Sure you can have a great frame with either material but the difference between a cheap aluminium frame and a cheap steel frame is night and day.

That was my point. Most bike deals have a very cheap and ugly frame.
I don't think there's anything to beat personal experience, and I've nothing but praise for the disc brakes on my bike. But then it helps that I'm lazy - I don't like regularly having to tweak rim brakes and it's a joy not to have to do so any more. The percentage increase in weight through having disc brakes is minuscule - a couple of hundred grams in 100kg for bike, rider and luggage?

Yes, but all that is predictable compared with commuting!
I commute 22 miles on a regular basis, which includes busy towns, hills and vehicles in open countryside that seem to be hell-bent on forcing me off the road. Riding a bicycle is never predicatable and unless you anticipate the conditions, other road users intentions etc, you are putting yourself at risk.

My bikes have caliper brakes and Vee brakes and I have never had any problem with them, but then I do adjust them regularly and change the blocks when they become worn.

I had recently considered getting a tourer with disc brakes, but decided against it due to the heavier weight and the reviews that I have read that the Avid BB5s that are fitted to it are not up to much. I decided to go with cantilevers instead.
Yes, but all that is predictable compared with commuting!

Pretty pants front fork on a bike that was supposed to be £600!! And what's a sus fork doing on a bike that's billed as a hybrid anyway?

For CLAUD BUTLER read MADE IN KOREA..

I got fooled last year thinking CB was a UK made cycle, it ain't.....
Since when has Falcon Cycles been a good brand? Just another name bought by a mass producer. 30 years ago maybe but not now.
Not bad but nothing too special. There's been better bike deals over the past few weeks
