Agree with Mark take your chances on the Argos EBay outlet ones, I got an i5, 1TB HD and 4GB ram for £189. They advertised it as having BT when it didn't so the refunded me £15.99 :). It was a refund but the factory seal hadn't even been broken.
Wow nice, was this recent?
A month ago maybe, defo keep an eye out.
Thanks i will do.

£99.99 on eBay
This is cheap for the 8 inch Tab 3. 8 inches is much better than 7 imo. HOT. Good spot, deserves more heat than this imo.
Is this the latest spec samsung.

Medion are not renowned for their excellent build quality. Personally I would steer clear of this laptop. Pay a little more and it will last longer. Just my opinion...

I have been using a Medion for around five years... Outlived the Toshiba that cost more... They are okay for home use
Think you'll find these to be end of line and that will be why ASDA were floging em cheap, but as ASDA don't have any I still think it's not a bad little laptop for someone on a budget.
As for build quality Medion Ag are a German subsidiary of Lenovo / IBM and use decent branded parts.
I bought a brand new one from Asda £199 about two months ago all they are doing is charging the same amount and more for a second hand one, some one had previously posted these laptops on Hotukdeals, that's how i got mine.

That's what my last purchase said too, but not a mark on it.

Mine was perfect too. Total bargain.

Ran like a dog out of the box, which might have put some people off. Removing all the bloatware from Ashampoo and Kapersky sorted the build right out. Also windows 8 needs a couple of hours to chill out and sort out caching, indexing etc.

Now runs like a total dream.

Edited By: portal on Nov 17, 2013 07:37
Mine arrived today, no marks on the laptop at all. Could tell the box had been opened, but you can't complain for the price.

need a laptop for elderly relative - internet shopping only. Is this any good or are there cheaper / more appropriate ones out there??
Your easiest option is a Chromebook. They're very fast to boot and pretty hard to mess up. Similar price.

A Chromebook can complicate matters when you want to do simple things like print for example, however they are an exceptionally quick way of browsing, pretty hopeless for Office related tasks though, Google Docs is no match for MS Office for example.

"internet shopping only" ;)

Which? magazine has said that the 7inch Kobo Arc has beaten the Kindle Fire HD. Maybe have a look at that, but it's probably more expensive.
I'm quite keen on getting one of these but £119 at John lewis with 2 yr guarantee for a new one seems a better bet. For graded I'd want it to be cheaper.

Also , as they are being discontinued I'm waiting for them to be reduced further.
It's not a bad specced little tablet and this isn't a bad price, but you can get it refurbished on ebay for the same price. Also just as a warning it's a total waste of time unless you either root it to run stock Android (which admittedly is fairly easy) or are already pretty heavily invested in the Nook ecosystem.

I'd buy a Kobo Glo over this if you've any interest in reading manga/comics on them. The XGA resolution of the Kobo provides a big boost compared to the VGA of this one.

Good price though, and 800x600 is perfectly fine for regular books so heat added.
Got one for xmas as a present for Mrs topazz. got mine from Sainburys who had it on offer at the time for £99. She loves it and uses it all the time. The glo feature works a treat and is well worth paying the extra as it makes the ereader much easier and more pleasant to use in low light conditions. The nook is IMO, a well designed and attractive reader with a soft touch rubber feel to the plastic. Also worth getting an official nobo cover if you can find one at a discounted price. Recommended. have some heat.

What I want to know is, how does a wireless transmitter in a battery identify which key has been pressed on your own remote?? That is what the description tells us I think.

I can understand the battery case AA/AAA housing the transmitter and a smaller battery for powering it. Optimistic as I am, I can't see that battery being effective enough to also power the remote for any reasonable time.

Looks good.

So you get a transmitter battery which you put in your remote and a receiver device which you put near your boxes? Is the battery rechargeable? I'm assuming if you have multiple remotes you need multiple kits?

Yes that is right the battery goes in to your existing remote and replaces either an aa or aaa. The actual transmitter battery can be charged within the receiver unit (quite clever). The pack comes with discreet stick on transmitters for 3 bits of equipment (Sat box, dvd and freeview box). I've enquired to see if you can buy transmitter batteries separately. I have a spiderbox sat box which has a 'one for all' style remote so I can control all. The only thing is I am considering another remote so I don't have to carry the one all round the house.

hmmm let me know how you get on with the extra batteries. I was thinking of a keene IR distribution unit but this is considerably cheaper.

Any ideas of reliability?

Just received a 'no we don't' to the battery question.:(

I ordered a TV very late on sunday, I found same tv cheaper on another website, spoke to what so called customer service department to see if they can match the price, only to be told that I wasted thier time and will be charged £10 administratoin charge for tv that wasnt even processed for delivery, their website state "no money taken until your item is ready for dispatch". My item was never ready for dispatch as I cancelled it and yet they have taken money out of my account. I have reported electrical experience to office of fair trading and have passed this issue into the hands of my credit card provider to recover my money that was taken from my credit card by electrical experience for goods that I cancelled. Their customer services staff are very very very rude and on the whole very very very unhelpful. Electrical experience, gave me electric shock will never shop or recommend this company. Please keep away from this company.

No I assure you I dont work for this company! The basket link was an error that I have corrected and furthermore you are quite correct about the graded angle, a fact that I was unaware of when I posted so mods feel free to remove please.

Thanks for amending it, it's not particularly a bad deal, but I would also amend the header to state the items are graded as well. £74.99 is not a bad deal at all for a Profile 2 player, however you do take the gamble on any cosmetic blemishes which can come with any graded item, they do state that if unwanted you have to bear the cost of return postage too.

These products are graded, which has not been listed, also the link provided auto adds the product to the basket, does the OP happen to work for this company?!

Stay away.....very poor product indeed.
It's almost impossible to find these new. The market is saturated with these 'graded' units .
Some awful reviews here :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B000Q9IXQS/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

Which could explain it being graded ... and cheap.
Hi All

If you need to make your one of these multi region try these.

1 switch on from the front button,
press 'home' button on remote,
enter 0086000 on the remote - watching the numbers on the recorders lcd screen,
'region free' should show on the lcd screen.
i pressed ok(not shure if i needed to).
i then switched it of completley and back on again ( may not need to)to restart
it worked a treat.
hopr this helps someone else.......

2 press open disc with remote
press home to see DVD recorder screen
highlight "disc tray"
enter "0086000" on remote
dont worry if you dont see regfree on-screen it did not on mine but does on some it seems.
close tray using remote.

this works for RCE encoded discs also.

I am after a new Philishave at the moment, as the trimmer on mine has busted, but I think that I will wait until the next offer comes along as I can use a beard trimmer in the meantime - as we see on here, good deals on Philishave razors come along fairly often.

What about this one...

Brand new, sealed in original retail packaging

So its brand new

I got one of the older versions of this - its over 4 years old and the battery still gives 2 hours shaving time (a reduction of about 10mins from new)

To be honest I nearly convinced myself too, until I did a bit of looking around. Minimal searching shows that this retailer sells on a certain auction site, as "cheapest-elecctrical" and it seems it is not averse to sending out the odd bit of old kit as new, as can be easily seen from the feedback, so be warned. I have had hassles like this before with online purchasing, from retailers that sell both old & new gear, although it was not this particular retailer.

I think I would want confirmation of it's origins, given in mind all the "graded" and for the "cheapest graded goods" splattered all over the site, and even on that particular item's page so it makes it a tad unclear! OK, you can send it back if it isn't new, but who wants the hassle AFTER the event?

Also, the other shavers they have/had has NO such "brand new" description (even for a similar price, eg. http://www.cheapestelectrical.co.uk/productdetails.php?id=2766&title=PHILIPS+Nivea+Coolskin+Shaver+PHILISHAVE+HQ7742 looks to be secondhand!) and most items on the site apart from this are second-hand, so they have no problems in selling second-hand razors!

I am after a new Philishave at the moment, as the trimmer on mine has busted, but I think that I will wait until the next offer comes along as I can use a beard trimmer in the meantime - as we see on here, good deals on Philishave razors come along fairly often.

No one seems to be seeing the obvious - Has no-one realised... these are SECOND-HAND! Read the page - it's a plain as day "graded" is what it says, but second-hand is what it means!

I thought the price was too good to be true, and unfortunately it is :-(

While this is getting on toward just a third of the original full price, and therefore ordinarily the right sort of price for a refurb if it was an average electrical item like a DVD player or a camera, it isn't an item like that, its a razor! Unfortunately there are few items I am less likely to buy than a second-hand razor, at ANY price, other than secondhand underwear!

Sorry about that - price seemed not bad but hope people took me at my word that I didnt know much about them. I am away to go on my lunch break soon so will have a scour on web to see if I can find a similar deal with a more reputable brand! Thanks for updating with the feedback on the box.
Yep sister had a philips freeview, most awful piece of hardware i've ever seen, avoid at all costs, I suspect it's a chinese rebrand since philips will licence their name to anything.
Damn, I wanted to replace my buggy useless one, this just wont do! Thanks anyhow!
