WOW this hotel is amazing (or at least was in 1999) only thing is like any luxury hotel everything you buy is expensive we paid more here for a pot of coffee than we did for a room in Vegas with full American in room (bed) breakfast !!

Been to this hotel twice, each time was just horrible, the rooms were dirty and very old fashioned, the bath "paint" was peeling off the staff were very snooty but the bars and restaurant, Oscars, were really great. But it is in a great part of NYC and can walk to most places if you dont want to get a cab.

It was that bad the 1st time you decided to go back.......

I often wonder that myself...We thought we just got a bad room the first time - we were wrong. hopefully the new owners will put it back to how it was supposed to be many years ago. But Oscars was great and the waiter, ziggy, was the best waiter ever.

That's a shame, nothing worse than a bad hotel on holiday

Great hotel and service in my experience, can't beat the location and if you want a coffee more cheaply there is a Starbucks in the basement

Stayed there in 2001, a week before the Twin towers came down :(
