Hats off to Chelsea. Let's hope other football clubs offer this!

Chelsea Football Club will once again be offering subsidised travel to the majority of our Barclays Premier League away games during the 2014/15 campaign.

Following the success of the travel initiative last season, discounted transport priced at £10 per person will be made available for every league game outside London. This begins with trains to the opener at Burnley on Monday 18 August and our second away game at Everton on Saturday 30 August.

We will also be discounting match tickets to three away league fixtures by £10 – an offer well received by supporters for games against Sunderland and Cardiff City last season. Details of selected fixtures and further travel subsidies will be announced via chelseafc.com in due course.

If a club wins something a cup or trophy what do the fans that spent thousands and thousands of money get nothing we make losses just throwing money every game.

That's quite an insane comment.

What do people who go and pay money to go see a band who have won Brit awards & Grammies at the end of the concert? Nothing.
What do people who go and pay money to sit in the cinema get at the end of the film if it wins an Oscar? Nothing.
What do people who go and pay money to sit in the theatre get at the end of an award winning play? Nothing.

All clubs SHOULD be doing this because the PL is allocating them funds to aid their away fans. Of course many of the clubs won't.

Why should anyone have to do it the clubs only care about how much money they can make and profits so if you want free travels then sit in front of the TV it's free clubs are not paying you it's the other way around fans are buying the tickets to go and watch the match so why would they give free travels or any thing else for the matter. It's people who are stupid enough to pay to watch should stop paying then they might consider giving fans free travels, free food and cheaper ticket prices.

If a club wins something a cup or trophy what do the fans that spent thousands and thousands of money get nothing we make losses just throwing money every game.

Save that money boycott the game give your money to charity.

You don't need to agree with me but this is our fault the fan following paying stupid money to watch a football game.

Not if the game's at Anfield, only half and half scarves are allowed in that place.

I believe that all clubs have a directive to reduce the cost for away fans, however the way they approach this depends. For example Arsenal are reducing all away matches by £2.50 to compensate for this, which isn't amazing but is better than focusing on 3 games in a season - especially as most Away Matchgoers tend to go to most/all matches.

I can see all Chelsea fans now supporting stoke because they have a better offer. Not. These sorts of deals can only be compared to the clubs previous offers as people only support 1 club.

A great initiative by a top premier league club. They do not have to do this as they sell out their away allocation without the need to offer an incentive, which in my opinion makes this more worthy of a HOT vote! They also usually offer 1/2 price tickets to the champions league group stages and in most fa/league cup games. I can't remember the last time ticket prices were raised above inflation too, unlike man utd & city who's clubs have taken for granted their own fans by smashing them with huge increases in ticket prices! This shows that Chelsea football club respect their fans & the support is mutual... Plastic flags or not, they are still given to the fans for free for the big games.

I wouldn't say man utd tickets are expensive compared to the average? Or have had huge increases. I also believe City's are not too bad either. I can't believe you are talking about ticket prices though and mention these two, yet not Arsenal?! Who have the most expensive tickets in the league...

Yes they do, its part of the agreement with the premier league. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24446082

yeah but the downside is is that you have to travel with a coach full of chavs and sit in a away section full of chavs once you get there!

probably because no one wants to sit in a stadium with a load of intimidating chavs!

fanboy much, and city have the best price season tickets and the best value for money in the prem mate unlike Chavski who "park the bus" every game, do your research mate (http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2013/jun/19/premier-league-ticket-prices-club-charge-the-most).

take a look at the prices in the list and tell me what team is "Smashing their fans" when it comes to the cheapest matchday ticket?,

idiot.

Man city's prices rose by 9% last season & man utd prices were hiked up 12.6% in one go when the glazers took control of utd... I'm not surprised one or two of the posts attacking my comments on here forget this as they probably don't want their club to look inferior to any other club behind the scenes. The other post saying that all clubs have to make travel cheaper for their fans is correct, but also misled. This came into force last season, but I've been to Chelsea away games 10 years ago when travel was free, or subsidised by the club, long before any PL interference telling the clubs that they had to do this & them giving them a grant to do it! I think some of the posts on here just go to show that when it comes to football, some people just like to yell abuse at others from behind their computer screens about matters completely off point, rather than be involved in a reasonable discussion with genuine users of this site. I didn't mention Arsenal, who's prices are staggering I agree, but I didn't resource every clubs details before my last post, I just know both utd & city season ticket holders who have had a good moan to me in the past about how much their season ticket prices have gone up, no research needed, that's just genuine fans point of view. This post is about a deal, not which club you support, respect the fact that a football club is trying to aid their fans, which is a good deal!
