Chester Zoo tickets £9.99

mrsandmanmrsandman

Was 'told' the other day by OH that we were going to Chester Zoo so began searching for vouchers or discounts to no avail. Found loads of 'kids go free' tickets but nothing for adults without kids. A final google, however, took me to a forum (I forget which I'm afraid) where someone suggested you could buy tickets from the information desk at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet (about 5/10 minutes from the zoo) for £9.99 as opposed to the £14.99 gate price. Worth a look I thought.

So we headed down there, parked next to the food court, ran in and sure enough bought 2 adult tickets for the zoo for £9.99 each! The next bonus was that while it added about 10 minutes onto our journey, when we arrived at the zoo, as we already had tickets, we bypassed the huge queues for tickets and went straight through the side entrance probably saving us about 20 minutes!

According to the lady on the information desk, the tickets don't have to be used on the day of purchase, but they did have an expiration date of the end of the month stamped on them so they seem to need to be used in the month of purchase. It should be noted that at peak times the gate price is £16.49 so there's a potential 40% saving to be had!

So just in summary-

Adult tickets for Chester Zoo for £9.99, available from the information desk in the food court at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet!

Chester Zoo is a good day out but I'd turn up early and park near the entrance if you can.

Me and the wife took the kids at the end of summer holidays and after helpfully being advised how to park a car by one of the 30+ staff dotted around the carpark we headed inside. After a great day out we made our way back to our car only to discover some scrote had stuck a wood chisel through the door panel, popped the lock and had off with the radio. We reported it to the zoo's head of security who told us we were the eigth Ford Focus to have been done that day and in each instance it was so they could steal a factory fitted radio. According to him they have a regular problem with specific models of cars being targetted (he stated the same thing had happened a few weeks prior but that time there had been over 10 cars done).
The thefts are not helped by the fact they have no staff attending the carpark during the day to watch out for what must be pretty obvious teams of thieves carrying these thefts out although they can spare 30+ staff in the morning to advise people driving cars how to park them....

    Good find, thanks.
Chester zoo has always been notorious for cars being broken into. I'm amazed they still haven't increased security.
Can't the radio front be removed on focus's?

We have used these tickets from Cheshire Oaks loads of times when going to the zoo which is one of the best, if not the best in the UK....brilliant!!
You do indeed use the speedy entrance which they scan the ticket but the entrance price is not £16.49 but £14.95 as the extra is a voluntary donation to help the animals which you can refuse.
Take a look round Cheshire Oaks, big outlet shopping centre, with Links of London, Monsoon, Gap, Mulberry, Radley, Next, Jane Norman and many many more!! Fab day out.

    HOT!

Be aware, that they will try and emotionally blackmail you into paying the donation price of 17.99 so you can donate your tax to charity.

I told them to get lost and had a great day!

It is true that the gate price includes a voluntary donation, but you can request not to pay it which makes roughly 10% cheaper, but still not as cheap as a tenner:-)

There's a seller on ebay that sells coupons. I paid 99pence. He emailed me a set of printable coupons. 1 f them was for 1 free child's place with 2 adults. So that was a good saving :)

The bat cave is fantastic (opened by Douglas Adams himself). I think if I remember the blurb correctly they have endangered species that they are helping to breed and put back into the wild, which is kind of cool too.

The bat cave is cool. The kids loved it, adults were more nervous but we had an idiot who came in behind us and shouted 'boo' really loud and scared the bats and they were flying frantically all over the place so people panicking. The keeper in the cave was none too happy and ushered him straight back out. The butterfly house is really nice and the Mansion house in the centre does a lovely meal ...we had a roll with choice of fillings, spicy curly fries (loads of them) and a salad for £4.95 which is not bad for an attraction. Better than hotdogs and burgers or you can get a scone and glass of wine for £2.95 if it takes your fancy. I agree, a great day out and we went from Durham to there twice in august cos we enjoyed it soooooo much. Also, when paying, someone does come up and ask if you would like to make a donation, but we politely said no and she was fine. You dont have to tell them to 'get lost' like another member says. How rude! They are only doing the job they are paid to do after all. But to avoid this, I think go to Cheshire Oaks and buy your tickets. Have fun!!
