Chestnuts for Christmas - not much more you can say really.

The lowest fat of any nut - seasonal - and taste brilliant....

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa's on his way;
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
And every mother's child is going to spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
A very Merry Christmas to you

thankyou........I love chestnuts!

Dont bother scoring them - break the shell with a nut cracker then microwave them - and there are no explosions - or no need to clean the microwave after.

Heated for the lyric, let alone the price!

Don't just have 'em out at christmas,it's nice to have 'em out year-round.:whistling:

I use scissors and cut the pointy end bit off, much quicker than scoring them. But I'll try the nutcracker thing now.

Chestnuts roasting in an open hot deal! Lol sorry:oops:
#9
I'm pretty sure you're meant to call them 'inuits' now.

Cold for political incorrectness.
#10
Hope they're sweet and not powdery

Boiling chestnuts is the best cooking method

Creamy, moist texture and much better flavour - also without the dryness of roasting/microwaving

Roasted chestnuts might looked cooked but are raw and hard on the inside or can be burnt (boiling for too long doesn't ruin them)

It must just be me but I've never seen anyone actually eating chestnuts? Not had them in our family at Christmas or any other time of the year :) and boiling then sounds horrid! Hmmm boiled nuts, sounds painful.

Heated for price, I may try some, otherwise I could use them to throw at kids as they zoom by on there new Christmas bikes! heheh ;)

lol boiling is another method but surely cannot replace roasting... if it does then everybody should boil their turkeys :)

Where have you been? Never had chestnuts, you have never lived.
