I'd certainly pay £2 for the chicken in the photo. She's lovely.
#10
got a couple of these yesterday. nothing special but roast chicken is pretty much roast chicken.

cheaper to get these than it is to buy chicken breasts so may aswell get these and the rest of the meat is a bonus.

it gets heat because it is raw and needs cooking

Too much hassle, I'd sooner pay a bit more and not have to suffer the plucking

With you on that one, very poor deal for the birds themselves makes it somewhat unattractive!

+1 rep

If you think that, then just buy toilet paper and dampen it before you chew it... if your taste-buds are that knackered, it will taste the same too and save a fortune! :-(

At this moment I have two cooked Somerfield chickens in the kitchen, cost total of £5.50 and very nice they will be, FOR THE PRICE, so rest assured I do buy battery chicken, and am not making any point on any other basis, but roast chicken is NOT just roast chicken! A decent free range bird will have much more texture and a proper chicken taste than those, however it will cost a lot more. (even if I could buy ready cooked ones!) Battery ones are very tender (too tender?), and full of fat which is one reason it tastes OK, but nothing like the REAL thing, any more than Lambrini tastes like Champagne.

Comparative poverty is the reason I buy cheap, but I can definitely tell the difference!

Regardless of your morals (of lack of them), we can all agree that the picture is completely inaccurate and should be changed.

How do you know its innaccurate?
It might be the very same chicken that ill be rubbing salt and paprika into its skin, covering in foil and slow cooking until the juices run clear so that i can make a gravy whilst the foil is removed to allow the skin to crisp?

How do you know its not just a photo from her facebook profile taken on a Hen weekend in Magaluff (where, incidentally, she got a lot of cock)

Answer me that you Chicken photo Nazi

In this economic climate people aren't gonna care about how the chicken ended up in the oven, just as long as it was cheap.

repped as i agree

I am not buying it, but will add more heat as being at 102 degrees for 19 hours that chicken must be burned now :p
#29
its the people who rear these that i feel sorry for - they must make a few pennies out of one bird!

Why would he be joking????? If Tesco's attempted to use that photo as an advert to represent a battery hen, which is what they're selling, they'd be prosecuted for deception and lying....so why should this forum misrepresent what's being offered?

Each to his own on what you buy / eat....but it's not asking much to be honest about it....or is it??

Someone posted a working £10 tesco grocery code just now, buts its been removed? anyone know why?

Errrr.... that would be the people that are voting cold and the people that aren't buying this dreadful tasting stuff from Tescos.

Buy it if you want though, but it's terrible quality like most meat from Tesco.

Tastes like any other 'every day' chicken to me. Much better value than chicken breasts from the same store.

I tend to view it that way rather than one to save for Christmas.

My old boss used to have an interesting view. He said that battery hens have better conditions than free range hens because they don't have to get stressed keeping an eye out for foxes!

This deal is hot either way though, as its a cheaper price than usual for a product.
