I'd be very happy to be proved wrong but I don't think I'd trust it at £18.

Lets be honest, of all the things you have to buy for babies/kids this is one that needs to be !00% quality regardless of price.

We do very short journeys and I hope nobody ever experiences an accident with a child in the car. I just need a cheap car seat, just need it to abide by the law more than anything else so this is good for me.

Do you think those of us who spend money on a decent seat plan to try killing our children in a traffic accident, to get our moneys worth? I don't understand why people go for deals like this and those that pop up occassionally for the rubbish brands Argos sell. This really isn't somewhere to be cutting corners and compromising build quality and safety.

You've misunderstood what I wrote. Using your analogy you could then argue about how safe your car is.

Anyway what makes this worse than say a branded one? If you have a look at some of the branded reviews you get 1 or 2 stars. This can't be any worse than that.

If it wasn't safety tested then I'd say you would have a case.

All the seats tested in the Which reports conform to European safety standards, but after seeing what happens to a crash test dummy in a crash of 40mph when a cheapo carseat dissintegrates, I would avoid putting my son in one even for short journeys. Carseats tested to European safety standards are only tested for low speed frontal impacts and no side impacts, they aren't even tested in real cars. I'm with Pokey, that's one £50 I won't bother saving.

Well how about this: don't buy this piece of **** that no one's ever heard of and don't buy a 'branded' one that gets one or two stars in your reviews. Choose the ones that get more.

I'd have thought this would be simple logic to grasp but I'm happy to point it out for you.

Is this stage 1 or stage 2?
