Are you serious...cmon, just look at the poster's avatar! It's probably a radio prank and they're going to read everyone's names out on-air!
#3
lovely. These should be given out free with Benidorm package holidays.
#4
10p to help detemine whether you may become infertile.

Saves having to splash out £10,000 for IVF down the line when you want kids....

Bargain!

...... of course you will still have no idea if you have Hepatitis a,b, c, or one that is more exotic; no idea if you are HIV positive; or have syphilis, or are worrying for nothing! :-(

Seeing there are clinics everywhere, (and they can be MUCH more "anonymous" than broadcasting your name and address over the airwaves); you can also get advice and counselling a the same time, go in - they are no joy or pleasure (inevitable, I am afraid), but no big deal either and probably not as bad as you might imagine. Just think, if the test result comes back +ve, it will be a lot better being there, than that happening in front of the letterbox when you get the results!

While you are on, do the whole deal, get all the tests that are appropriate - get it over with quick, and get some advice & info at the same time as well as contraceptive and lifestyle advice, jabs or whatever.

Better than doing nothing, but use it as a reminder to get the check over!

I think that is exactly THE point with Chlamydia.... a LOT do NOT notice.

Interestingly, I can also confirm that sex does not end at age 23 years 364 days!

Ive just completed one of these tests, not that it looks like its going to fall off or anything, just to put my mind at ease more than anything! It was here within 2 days, very easy and painless to use, got my results back within 7 days via text message.
Got the green light on both counts!! Woooo! When i applied for one it was through my local NHS services, they were free for 18-24 year olds, so i just gave a blag date of birth as im 29! Heat and rep added!

my nurse told me when I asked about it that I really shouldn't get tested as the fact that I have is inlcuded on mortgage applications and alike!!
was shocked that such info could be used in that way!

Your nurse should be sacked then. That's absolute rubbish.

hmm I'm a student nurse - wualify in Sept. Currently out with the community and practice nurses. I really don't think that can be true....

it's ACTIVE problems that mortgage companies find out - your current illnesses etc IBS, asthma... and whether u smoke, obese etc.

just coz you ask for a std check doesn't matter... they'd only find out if there was an outcome - if you had it.

the docs wouldn't write on the mortgage info request "July 2008 - requested a chlamydia text that was negative"..... there's just no point in that.

I had to get a medical questionare thing filled out to start my nurse training and it's the likes that mortgage companies get - and I had to pay £7.50 for the "pleasure" and under "operations..." he never put my emergency cesearean section I had with my son 2 years previously!! but he did put the tonsillectomy I had when I was 9. :whistling: (the occupational health nurse picked up on this coz I'd written my c section on my personal statement of health history).

Saying things like what your nurse said to you would really prevent youngsters getting tested for things like chlamydia... when we really want to improve awareness and detection. Certainly whenever I get a smear I get a chlamydia one too as they say "we're down there anyway!" :p

better safe than sorry on both ends...

I've seen older adults diagnosed with it too... you never can know 100% if someones playing away from home.......

Interesting that this is a brand NEW profile.... has only commented on THIS thread... and claims to be a nurse?

COME ON! Pull the other one :-(
One scam per thread is quite enough

I can well understand wanting to be anonymous, and while I may not have the highest regard for nurses as some have, and would often question the need for a nurse to have an education to Degree level... this is some thing else, and thus far I have not yet met one with this low level of literacy! The post varies from unintelligible, to plain drivel, but at all times it is not the writing of someone who has a basic 1950's Secondary Modern education, let alone a Degree! :-(

Well, the original post is indeed a scam.. that is now clear.

Pity, as the message that testing is a good idea is NO scam.

As I mentioned in my post, the "clinics" (with their varied and euphemistically titled names!) are MUCH more anonymous, and if anyone is in any doubt, they can be rendered a LOT more anonymous, with a bit of common sense, as indeed, whatever amount of reassurance there is on here, I am afraid there IS a very real problem with potential future health statements that you may make. Thankfully, it is not VERY likely you would ever be caught out, if you lied, but it is not quite as secure and separate from other record keeping as the local Health Trusts would like us all to believe - anyway, however you become anonymous, don't do it as OBVIOUSLY faked as this poster is!
#29
My previous life insurance asked - I can remember and even testing even if you've got a pos or neg result - they just wanted to know what you'd been tested for if you ever had... not the mortgage company.

I think the dyslexic nurse is funny. lol.
#30
Well I've just ordered 100 - one for me and the rest for eBay!
#31
i had a letter through the post bout this, from the nhs. Saying if you wanna be tested you can be for nothing just gotta get in touch with them
#32
I would be scared to use text for this sort of thing, A friend had to have a test and this is what she was told by her GP.
1. Best place for these tests is in local GUM clinics (Genitourinary medicine clinics)
2. You don't need a referral from GP or anyone and can even show up or call them for an appointment and you get seen at the most in 48 hours
3.They don't send your results or diagnosis to anyone else and it is confidential, so imagine it should not be accessible to any financial institutions.
4. You receive the treatment and if you wish they will also check you for nasty things like HIV.
5. In the worst scenario, you are found to be HIV positive then they also arrange all your treatment even if you don't want to involve your GP.
6. If you don't want any letters confirming your appointments or treatments at your address then they do manage everything on your mobile phone as well

You can get the local GUM clinic numbers from yellow pages, or local hospital switchboard or NHS Direct

I agree. That post confused me! If that's the typical level of literacy of a nurse they should all be sacked...fortunately I'm confident that it's not!

I wouldn't take the number being in the paper to mean anything. The number, as said earlier, suggests scam when entered into google (note results from 2005, 2006 and 2007).

Also,

Recognise that number to text?

Edit: Interesting PO BOX and Telephone number they have listed on the T&C of their website.
