Do dimmers still exist? lol.

I use my phone or tablet to dim my lights and turn them on / off and different colours. Can turn them on and off anywhere in the world as long as I have net access.

Modern tech is really cool guys :D try it!.

I saw a demo of those Philips bulbs. I just stood there and stared at the guy...

"why? why would I want to do that? Why would I want green lighting? Why would I want to **** around with my phone just to turn a light on? red lights? Really? I don't live in a house with ladies of the night".

I've got plenty of money in the bank for decent tech but red bulbs have been around for years, people didn't use them for a reason.

would be easier to just use the dimmer switch, and why on earth would you want to mess around with your home lighting if you are not at home :-/ .. what a useless bit of tech

Red bulbs. You are showing your age. Even if you keep the bulbs WHITE you can turn them on and off and dim them without leaving your bed, chair, sofa or even turn them on and off when you aren't even anywhere near your house. I work nights and in Summer I leave for work when its light. Once its dark I turn on some lights through my phone so make it look like someone is home.

Did I mention it dims? Yes more uses. Dimmers are useless now.

Same to you. See the reply above. And no its more of an inconvenience to get up and go to a dimmer switch XD ... sat on the sofa, dim the light... or get up, walk over to the dimmer, turn it, sit back down? Yes useless. Its the way were headed anyway. You stick with your OLD tech.

I actually like mobile tech. Home automation etc. But it's expensive. This is £3 for goodness sake! :)

Coloured bulbs been around for ever, ask the fairground folk. I don't want to pretend I live on a camp site next to a Waltzer.

Likewise, timed switches have been around for decades.

It's just using tech for the sake of it, and paying through the nose too. No real benefit.

"I'm comfy on the sofa, I wish I could dim the lights without getting up" - said no person ever.

Does it close the curtains too? As lights on at night just makes it easier for burglars to window shop.

should call some of the comments on here - Hot Under The Collar Comments. Good find - I still use a dimmer switch, have two legs and don't mind the exercise to walk from the couch to said light switch.

You can do that without paying a fortune for Phillips, etc rip-off bulbs using stuff such as lightwaveRF.

Light wave is still expensive. 4 way dimmers are like £80+ plus the wifi link at 60 quid

..Anyway back to the deal, agree blinding price (excuse the pun..) but they're cheap for a reason.
Read some of the reviews for the one or two gang equivalent fittings and most people slate them. Badly made and hard to install and also no good with led bulbs, as insufficient wattage load makes them flicker apparently. OK for buying cheap then selling on but not worth fitting them from the sound of it.

Excellent! I could do with my daughter being a bit dimmer as she's a bit of a smartass, and she's not even 3 yet...

If all I need is Chrome, could I not make her dimmer from my PC? I don't know if I want to have her involved in gangs anyway... oO
#27
A one way dimmer, so when you turn it down you cant go back up? :D

Great price heat

Dimmers are still useful cos it does not blow the bulbs that much as an on/off switch. And saving electricity whilst watching the TV. Money saving!
