Hi all just got buildings and contents insurance with Churchill for 1/2 the price Norwich union were going to charge me for renewal.

35% off if you take it out online
Buildings up to £250K
Contents up to £40K
Accidental damage on B+C
£2.5K insurance away from home
volentry excess reduced to £50
plus go though quidco and then get £80 cash back - only did mine y/day and its tracked already

All this reduced it to about £200 pretty good considering Norwich union were trying to charge me £515 LOL
plus if your mortgage lender charges you a "fee" for not renewing with them they will pay £25 towards the "fine" they give you

Could be a good price for some people - it seems this 35% off is an ongoing offer though.

Make sure it's the cheapest before going ahead - many insurance companies off quidco

£100 quidco for car insurance too
#4
remember it you find a cheaper quote challenge them and they will beat/match it

On the quidco front I think Lloyd's has the highest cashback but there quotes for me were astronomical :w00t:

yeah i bagged the £100 from quidco. cost was only £400 so 25% discount effectively. Never staying loyal again

I always use one of the price comparison websites like moneymarket.com to get a load of quotes from the different insurance companies first, then write down the various quidco cashback offers against each one and then buy the policy via quidco from the one that comes out the best value. I haven't renewed any insurance policies with the same company in the last 2 years since joining quidco. What really bugs me though is when you receive your renewal quote from your current insurer, it is nearly always more than it would be if you bought a brand new policy from the same company via their own website. Even without quidco, I doubt if I would ever just simply renew a policy even if I wanted to stay with the same insurer.

I have just purchased my car insurance too - it came to £199 fully comp but will be getting £100 back fingers crossed so £99 for a full year - AMAZING.

How long did yours take to track as I will cancel if it doesnt track with the 14 day cooling off period.

We will see. Took out my car insurance with them through Quidco and that was in Feb. Still no sign of the £100 :x

It has been tracked though but it comes up as Home Insurance. It also says payment due April 2008.

I only just got a policy from the AA for contents insurance - didn't see this or even consider quidco! doh!

cancel it if you are with your cancelation period
#12
it does take a while but you will get it
#13
will consider this when next up for renewal .. thanks!

Could be hot, might not be .. since every quote is different, hard to vote whether this is a hot deal or not.

My wife's car insurance quidco earnings also showed as Home insurance when we bought a policy from Privilege (underwritten by Direct Line Insurance) last month but the amount was correct so I'm not concerned. April 2008 payments should be paid in the first week of May. I've just checked my quidco earnings (non-Churchill) that had April 2008 as the payment date and they both now show as 'received'.

In my experience Churchill are pretty good when it comes to quidco payments. Last June, I bought a buildings insurance policy from them which failed to track at all. I submitted an earnings query to quidco which was successful and I finally received the money in December so if your's has tracked then there shouldn't be a problem at all.

did churchill car insurance track ok with quidco, still waiting for mine to track

I took out my car insurance policy a year ago - almost to the day - and Quidco paid up within a month.

This time however, Priviledge are miles cheaper and offer £75 Quidco.
#17
this is where quidco really pays off for me, buyiny a few things online over a year doesn't really seem to add upto much but once you start doing car & house insurace using it you get £100's back and gas\electric\breakdown cover too, seems much more worth it for stuff like that.

cancel it if you are with your cancelation period

I just went through Quidco and got quotes from a few companies and none came close to the £79 I've been quoted from the AA, the nearest was Churchill but that was £80 more expensive and the excess was £150 (AA is £50)

Looks like I got a bargain from the AA :)

Isn't it better to use Rpoints? Their manual claims system is a lot better if transactions don't track and they always match whatever Quidco or any of the other cashback companies are offering (so long as you complete a form which literally takes 30 seconds to fill in).

i have just done 2 online - 1 churchill for me and 1 priviledge for my wife although priviledge was £70 quidco -

churchill would have worked out £10 cheaper for my wife but I didnt want to do 2 with churchill incase 1 didnt track I wouldnt know which one to cancel.
#21
ooohhhhh, yes!
#22
thanks for the heads up, they're cheaper than my recent quote for home+contents :)
#23
Save more by getting seperate buildings and contents insurance with Churchill, therefore getting twice the cashback.

I found last November that getting Buildings with Churchill and Contents with the AA worked out best for me, as although the AA was less Quidco, the premium was less.

Leave it a day or so between purchases, and clear your cookies if you are using the same company for 2 seperate policies...... just to make sure it tracks as 2 seperate transactions.

http://www.topcashback.co.uk/

I use Quidco most of the time. However other sites are occasionally better, Topcashback gave me £90 for Prudential when Quidco was at £75(now dropped).

I also managed to renew with Prudential, ignoring their renewal letter and going through the Cashback site to get cashback 2 years running from them.

http://www.goldengeese.co.uk/

Goldengeese is another site useful for comparing cashbacks.

brought car insurance from them in march and was tracked on quidco was shown as home insurance but money was received this month :) also brought home insurance on the 28th, £80 was tracked the next day :)
#26

Me too, but that was for contents.

Best way is to get seperate buildings and contents and get 2 lots of quidco back
#28
Even with the overly generous cashback its still more expensive than a much better speced policy I have had with lv for a few years.....(they also do cahback I think)

for you maybe 500 for me

Dont ever base your decision to buy through banking on getting your cashback from Quidco.

I took a Morethan car insurance and a Churchill insurance out, neither paid out, one tracked and validated, another didnt even track, also you will be extremely disappointed in the computer based responses, and will never get a straight answer from Quidco why you dont get paid, just a bog standard email rejection giving nine possible reasons they are not paying out, you then pick a reason you feel to suit the weather ? a very very unreliable outfit, dont know how others perform like topcashback and others, but dont buy an insurance through Quidco when you are relying on the cashback to come through, if you like a gamble ?...do the lottery

Just my humble opinion from four large purchases through Quidco all rejected, unsuccessful, declined or whatever the latest buzzword is.

ive always been paid quidco moneys - i get my insurance sorted about a month before it is due so I get time to see if quidco tracks - if it doesnt i cancel and try again.

That's the way to go. Insurance policies normally have a 14-day cooling off period when you can cancel and get a full refund so make use of it if the purchase doesn't track before the policy start date.

Privilege should be fine as their policies are underwritten by Direct Line Insurance. My wife's car is insured with them.
