why are flash drives better ?

Shock resistant, they have no moving parts. How many hard disks can survive 2 hours in a washing machine intact and then still function? Being purely electronic allows them to be faster too.

Do yourself a favour do not buy one of these.

Only problem with a flash drive (unless they have improved) is *Quote* An USB-Stick refuses its function, after approximately 100.000 writing-processes.

now that isn't much of a problem to most people unless you want to run xp from a memory stick :). However; if you do, *quote* Assuming that the system needs only two writing-processes every second, an USB-Stick holds nearly 60 Days (8 hours of working).

Microdrives (which are what power the device in this deal) are basically micro hard drives which means you have a small spinning disc. The downsides of this is that the access time is slower, more power is needed and they're more vulnerable to damage as they are complex devices. Microdrives were popular for a while as they could be around half the price of a solid state equivalent which balanced the downsides. However these days flash memory has come down massively in price and microdrives haven't really developed any further so the cost advantage is gone, there's little reason to go for a microdrive now.
