CD WOW are a disgrace!
#2
I know people have had issues with them but they've always been ok when I've used then.
#3
I have personally never had any problems with the service from CD WoW during the last 3 or 4 years that I have been using them...Even when I preordered a CD, which had it's release date posponed, they promptly refunded my money within 24hrs of me requesting it...I guess you shop where you get good service and that for me is CD WoW...I only by cd's now from either them or BangCD... :)
#4
many thanks for the link
#5
Voted hot, but just so people know I've bought a few cds from them and a lot have been foreign imports from Hong Kong - so don't automatically assume you'll get a UK release one. But if you want a good price and don't mind waiting 7-10 go for it!

Never had any problems with CD Wow, and just lurve Unlimited Cardholder offers too.

lol epic

Good spot might come in handy.

Unlimited Cards are good, but note they have just started charging an extra £1.50 on top of your 13.99 subscription to see 3d movies.

We use ours to take the kids every other week and it works out well for a family of 4 especially with all the summer movies at the mo.
#13
very good discount. pleased about this
#14

I've had one for a couple of years and the price is creeping up, but I definately find it worth it if you see at least 2 films a month.

I wouldn't bother joining for the other things though, but you sometimes get things like bogof on cokes and things.. but i've never used them. I think I've only had one invitation to a screening too.

The fact that it's only £1.50 extra for a 3D film actually brings the cost down anyway compared to a standard adult as it's normally about £2.50 extra for a 3D film for an adult, so while not ideal, it's better than not joining on this basis alone.

Remember you can use it with Orange wednesday too as it counts as a paying adult.

... and in terms of CD-WOW, i've never really had an issue with them and (when applicable) sometimes prefer to get the non-uk item, as long as the track listing is as described etc.. sometimes it's a nice bonus. It's always relatively clear what you're ordering though.
#17
Where does it take the discount off?

Seems to be just browsing, all prices say 'Now: £x.xx!', but when signing up it claims it applies it during the checkout process.

What are the default prices showing up as for everyone else?

Example - Florence and the Machine on the front page £6.79 (was £7.99). This is a 15% discount.

I ask because it didn't confirm anything after putting my unlimited number in.
#18
Never mind that post - Double checked, it says:

"CD WOW is pleased to offer you an exclusive storewide 15% discount! All you need to do is enter your card number below, add products to your cart and proceed to checkout to receive the discount. The discount is already applied to the prices."

So the discount is already applied.

Pretty awesome I say - a few CD's off here will save me even more money and make that Unlimited Card worth a bit more.

I didn't know about the Orange Wednesday thing. Anyone tried it in MK?

It seems they have different rules in different places. For instance, in Enfield, you can get into the Deluxe screens for no extra. ISTR initially, it was always extra for deluxe.
#20
Also - anyone know of any other Cineworld Unlimited deals?

I find it shocking there's no deals on food prices when you go to the cinema. The prices have gone past insane IMO, and my jaw drops when I see other people around me in the cinema munching away on over-priced garbage.

When I first found out about the Orange Wednesday thing I asked about it when I was next at Cineworld (Nottingham) and was told that it wasn't actually a legitimate deal and would only happen where uniformed staff made a mistake. I emailed Cineworld customer service to double check though and got this reply:

'Thank you for contacting cineworld. Please accept our apologies for any
confusion caused by the cinema staff.

You can use your Unlimited card with the Orange Wednesday offer. If you
have any problems at the cinema please advise that Collette at Head
Office has advised this can be used.

Kind Regards
Collette Barry
Customer Services'

I printed the email and took it in for next time, but the person who served me didn't have any probem with it, and neither has anyone else there or at other Cineworlds I have been to since. I have now done used this deal many times :)

If you're unsure about it then just take that email/remember Collette Barry's name in case they question you. I suspect you wont have a problem anyway.

--

As for CD WOW- I have had a problem with them sending me the wrong thing before and then refunding me in CD WOW vouchers rather than cash, which was somewhat annoying. Still, I have managed to order things from them successfully before and would use them again if the prices were favourable to Amazon/Play/HMV etc.

You get a regular mail which sometimes has advance screenings etc as well as competitions as well. Nothing (yet) that has blown my mind thou (especially on the advance screening front)
I think the regular drinks/food offers ore on their way, but so far it's been nothing special.

Personally just got the card as I go so often

With this CDWow offer and others such as half price Empire subscription, they seem to be adding extra benefits

C'mon how much do you need?
Look at it this way....see ONE film a week for two people using Orange Wednesday cost = £6.50/wk or £340 per year for just 52 films

OR...watch as many films as you like, when you like, for £320 per year. Plus a few offers like this too.

It's actually cheaper for two of you to have an Unlimited Card each than it is to use Orange Wednesday and see just one film a week.

What else is there to know?

Thanks

it's a bad time to get the unlimited card, but at least you're not paying for these bad films ;)
don't forget that it'll cost £1.50 for ice age 3.
#27
I know that Cineworld are supposed to be charging extra for Unlimited Card holders to see 3D films...but we went to see IceAge 3 and were expecting to pay, but weren't charged. Still inconsistensies out there it seems.
#28
Ah ok I didn't know Ice Age 3 was just in 3D I thought there was a non 3D version i guess thats why there's so many 3D films poping up these days just so they can get the extra £1.50, There not bad film's Transformers 2 was good but I haven't seen Ice Age 3 or Public Enemy's at least it's not that shoddy Bruno film ehhhh that film makes me shudder just thinking about it.

Quidco is 5%

Hmm I can't seem to find cineworld on quidco anyway so i'll just get this from in the cinema unless some one can tell me where to look on quidco. Thanks

I've just cancelled my Unlimited card - I wasn't making the best use of it, and it made more sense financially to throw the money at upgrading my Virgin TV package, which I'll probably get a lot more value from.

Had been a member for about 4 years. In that time, I received one solitary food/drink voucher. Absolute disgrace - the discount it offered wasn't useable in conjunction with any of the combos, which made it utterly pointless as the bog-standard combo prices worked out cheaper than using the voucher.

Huge pain in the backside not being able to book tickets in advance as well. Very frustrating to queue up for 20 mins, and see people swan in and use one of the Quick Ticket machines to pick up tickets they'd booked over the phone.

My card doesn't actually expire until early August, so I'll have a browse through CDWow to see if there's anything doing. Have been massively underwhelmed with that site since they got taken over though - can't remember the last time anything I was shopping around for was cheapest there.
#34
I didn't pick it up today :( my brother didn't want to waste money so we didn't go near cineworld

There is a 2D version playing at every cinema showing the 3D version, so if you don't want to pay the extra or don't fancy 3D for some reason you don't have to.

Personally I don't want any offers on the overpriced cinema junk food. I can't understand why anyone wants to buy that stuff on a regular basis anyway. I would much rather have the restaraunt offers and entertainment offers. The Cineworld card is fantastic value for money as it is, so anything on top of that is just icing on the cake.
