  I lived there 9 years. I suggest you guys stay somewhere around Taksim area rather than Old City, Sultanahmet. Taksim area is known for 500+ bars, clubs, restaurants, night life. You will see 1 million+ people in the area on a Saturday evening. Navigate around Cihangir, Galata, Asmalimescit, you will find great places to hang on and meet people. Enjoy and taste the city around Taksim, rather than going to tourist traps around Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya etc. It is a great, amazing city if you know where to go. Also, I suggest during the day time, go to Ortakoy or Bebek, take a taxi from Taksim area for £5-6 max, see the unique Bosphorus view, where you see the closest point of Asia and Europe while drinking proper coffee.

  Easyjet are cheaper for certain dates; around £60 flights plus £30 for luggage making it under £100 for the flight including all the ridiculous fees for travel in March (may include other dates, but I have not checked).

  Where is the deal? If you go to Atlas jet/Turkish airlines website you can get flights for the same rate as above and hotels can be booked at this price this time of the year via booking.com
  
  Beware easy jet fly to SAW from where it is difficult to get into Sultanahmet/city.

  Just flew back from Izmir via Istanbul. Fantastic food, and slighly more footroom than most airlines, but the buqqers lost 4 suitcases of dirty washing and a baby car seat.....Sadly they found the washing but not the car seat.

  This is a deal! Turkish Airlines is excellent, far better than any low cost carrier, would definitely recommend.
