Civ for DS. The most hardcore (and yet unbelievably addictive) turn-based strategy game hits the DS.

4% Quidco & 5% RAC discount. Nearest price i've seen is £9.99. Beats the hell outta the £24.99 I paid on day one.

Sure it's not as in-depth as, say, Civ IV. But it's still captures the feel. It's like a slightly simplified and streamlined version. It's also tweaked a little to be more combat-heavy, to attract the console audience. They tried to place less emphasis on the micromanagement and more on the battles.

I just love the fact that I can Civ anywhere, something i've always wanted to do for years. I remember I caught someone playing Civ 1 on their brick-of-a-laptop about 13 years ago on the train to work, short battery, carppy tiny screen and all. I saw him and all I could think of was, "As inconvenient as that is, I COMPLETELY understand."

And no, the travesty that was Civ for N-gage doesn't count.

If you could just get civ 1 for ds id be the happiest little fellow in all of geekland. sadly this is about as good as we'll get, its still a good, addictive game but for fans of the series it really does feel like 'civ for idiots' the game is just begging for you to win, giving you magical people and other players cities etc.

The amount of stuff thats been left out is vast, no proper road building, no pollution, no real need to change governments, no entertainers, the people rarely get unhappy so there is no need for temples, no real resource mangement so granarys etc are pretty much redundnant, buildlings cost nothing to maintain so you can just build any old rubbish with no penalty.... as I say Civ for idiots but still quite fun.
