this is a decent cheap freeview box - my one complaint is that it has no buttons ,so if you lose the remote, you're screwed

Surely this isn't free collection but £4.85 delivery charge?

ok sounds like a good deal, in my room at my mums i have a bog standard tv that has a bad ariel so the 5 channels i get are very bad quality - if i hook this up with a scart lead (which i assume isnt provided) then i wont get problems with the picture quality right? i guess it has a built in tuner, just need to know.

If you can't achieve decent quality on the standard 5 analogue channels I wouldn't count on a problem free digibox experience. However this would be a fairly cheap way to find out (and you can buy cheap scart leads from the likes of Poundstretcher)

I still use a box from the ondigital days nokia, which has around 2 second delay between channel changes (actually more like 4 as it responds slowly to the remote as well) -- do these and other freeview boxes change channel when you press the button on the remote like it would with normal terrestrial tv? Or is there also a delay?

The free delivery on sim cards offer is still on so add a £2.47 sim card to your order and get free delivery. Cheaper than paying £4.85 for delivery.

If you are getting poor quality with normal TV this will not help you get a decent picture. Check on the freeview webiste to see if you can get freeview in your area. A decent aerial would help improve picture quality.

I'm guessing clubcard money vouchers or credit card fraud :-D

I bought one of these to use with my internal ariel, and I ended up taking it back...simply ****! It had a mind of it's own, remote would simply stop working unless you hard reset (unplugged it), OSD would 'disappear' for no good reason, and the reception was dire.

I should mention that the reception in my room is far from perfect, but it was a very poor solution for my needs.

Then got a Philips one, and from the OSD/EPG/Remote/Receptions it's well worth the additional £20~.

Can you use this with a computer monitor?

This is true in most cases, though I have analogue channels that are unwatchable, yet digital is perfect, so though I agree this shouldn't be possible, ocassionally it is.

The ones I use, which are cheap brands, all change channel fairly quickly. Not really much of a delay. I can't comment on the one above though.
