Check out hydrolysis before you consider Clarks shoes. A serious problem, about which Clarks have done virtually nothing to help the hapless purchasers of their rubbishy imported shoes.

interesting , not sure how you tell which shoes have polyurethane soles , these are rubber according to the spec.

Sure you're just not sweaty?

I wear Clarks’ shoes with Active Air soles and have done so for many years. I leave some pairs unworn for long periods and none of the soles have ever disintegrated.

You seem to have been lucky. But if you were one of the huge number of people who found that their brand-new, unused, Clarks shoes had disintegrated completely in the wardrobe, wouldn't you expect a decent manufacturer to offer you a replacement pair?

What they're offering (and you have to push, even for that) is a maximum £10 credit against a new pair of shoes. Does that strike anyone (and particularly those with a wardrobe full of the wretched things) as remotely fair?

I appreciate that the SOGA rights are against the seller, but a decent manufacturer who's been responsible for churning out probably hundreds of thousands of pairs of defective shoes might be expected to help its customers.

But the words 'decent' and 'Clarks' don't sit well together, do they? Not these days, anyway.

Having read some online comments, I re-examined the oldest pair of Clarks shoes that I own. Despite being over 10 years old they are in pristine condition. I don’t consider myself lucky, it’s what I expect from Clarks.

It's what the wife and I would have expected from Clarks too. But once we wore the shoes the soles just dropped to pieces.

A shame that more people aren't aware of the excellent video posted above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkBq2FuECfc
