Excellent - just bought one for the missus for Xmas! :-)

Basically, someone takes your photo. However, read the small print (it gets distinctly less desirable)

Note that you only receive one print. Normally, the way these places make their money is to invite you back and seduce you into purchasing more prints by the way of a lavish presentation. Additional prints are usually not cheap.
#6
Yeh these guys are expensive. There about £300 for 8 prints and a cd with them on.

I have been to the one in Cardiff and had a nice time but they do try to sell you extra photos but you can say no. Cant go wrong for £9.99 but we had to pay a deposit of £50 when booking which reminds me that i need to check that they have credited it back to my account!
Definitely a good deal

Hmm. Not sure about this - 2 for 1, but only one photo included, and it's a relatively tiny 7" x 5". If I knew the prices for the additional photos, I'd feel a lot happier - anyone any ideas what kind of prices the photos would be?

Thanks!

My friends daughter had one of these experiences a couple of weeks ago for her birthday and she had a fantastic time - really enjoyed it and the pictures were truly are wonderful. Yes, there was a bit of a hard sell to purchase additional prints (I think are about £50) but she just stuck to her guns and took the one picture as part of a deal.

Have just bought one for my 2 daughters as a stocking filler

Avoid if you are unable to say no! I have been twice to these places (the fool that I am) and have always ended up walking away with a load of photos that I really do not want.
Great day out by as mentioned before, the way they make their money is to invite you back and convince you how good you look in each photos (this was done by a very good looking guy).

I paid about £650 for 12 photos a few years ago. In terms of the makeover, it was not that great but I suppose having someone else slap it on you makes a difference other than you doing it yourself.

Drinks were cheap blonk and you hardly had much time to drink as once you enter the studio it is usually quick flowing.

For £9.99 though, I think that it is a good price but be very vary if purchasing as a gift for someone.

As I stated before. I rem my friend getting them for £300 for 8 between two friends. They managed to get a second copy because the first ones they lost in the post well they then turned up.

Got my Mam and sister one of these last christmas (Virgin experience days) and took them to Newcastle a couple of weeks ago. They thoroughly enjoyed the day, theirs included nails and a hair cut too which I don't think this will... anyhoo, I was able to join them after to look at the photos on the computer and the guy tried to sell them a package for £100! erm, no thanks I said (my Mam and sis just looked at each other scared bless them) I said I would rather pay for the whole day all over again than spend that much money on the pics... the guy said fair enough and gave me loads of info on their own packages!
Can't complain, this sounds like a great price to me x

That's their job to sell you something but paying that is ridiculous! If you are unable to say no to a £650 product that you do not want then you do have problems HAHAHA HO HO HO :santa:

Sounds a great deal. Secret is to be able to say no when the hard sell comes. I did it with Venture portraits, took only one pic, the one I paid £25 for (bigger pic 10x8).

Yes it was hard leaving the others behind but I have seen so many people spend thousands with Venture, I treasure the one I have. Have managed to get a number of copies done (scanner). I have heard of a place that lets you keep the CD with all the pics on, so you can get the ones you want printed yourself at a reasonable price.

Great price for this - girly day out, hair, make up, nibbles and a pic for a fiver each ... its gotta be hot!

My daughter was told that she had won one of these "experiences". She had agreed to pay a booking fee of £30 over the phone but they in fact took off £60. then she found that it would cost at least £200 in train fares etc. to get to the venue and cancelled within 24 hours but they would not refund the deposit even though we were told by Cosnumer Direct that we were entitled to a refund under the Distance Selling Regulations.
Despite numerous phone calls, promising to ring back etc. she has not received her deposit back. She was told that they could not refund over the phone and she had to attend in person. We live over 200 miles away and they were able to take the payment over the phone.
I would avoid like the plague.

This site is costing me too much

Have just bought 2. Relatives who live in the areas specified and have daughters who are going to be 18 / 21 in the next 6 months, so ideal pressie.

if you can resist the extras this is a bargain ;-)

Avoid this like the plague!!!!! Complete con, expect an awful makeover which you could do better yourself and a complete lying bully trying to sell you photos. You will never get the deposit back which will dwarf the original cost of the 'experience' and they will probably find some way of conning more money out of you like the salesman who 'forgot' to deduct the booking deposit from the cost of my friends photos and refused to refund it back onto her card.

Small claims court :whistling:

These are still selling for £40+ on other sites.

They are con artists, it was ages ago when I went on one but I'm still annoyed about it, if it was more recent I certainly would have informed trading standards and put a court summons on them. I wouldn't have minded so much if it was an enjoyable day but it was a complete shambles, hair and makeup was awful and the manicure I got was 5 minutes of someone applying cheap nail varnish badly.

I would not expect a manicure, and would do own hair. Make up only. and if I did not like it, I would do it again. £9.99 for proper photo, thats the way I look at it.

Sounds like need to do some homework before going, who the company is behind it etc before paying deposits.

The one I paid for was more expensive so included a 'professional manicure', the deposit is likely to be £25 per person and I wouldn't expect to get it back if you don't buy photos. You might have a better experience than me but there are plenty of reputable photographers charging fair prices, anyone I know who has gone on one of these experiences has been ripped off. They refused to let me choose my free photo so to get the one photo I wanted I had to buy the whole lot. Just warning you that they were very unprofessional, untrustworthy and very unpleasant people to deal with.

Thanks for the info.

Non reputable people rely on the fact that people get fed up and stop chasing their money. I am the opposite.
I would make sure Credit card company and Play.com are also involved, whether they like it or not

That's very true! Maybe if we had been a bit wiser at the time we wouldn't have fell into that trap!
