Hot price. I bought this for about £60 which I thought was good. The only things that spoils it a bit is that a lot of episodes appear to have been cut down from original broadcast.

in what way?

Love Minder. Such a brilliant show, remake was beyond poor. Heat added.

Well, this is a difficult one to answer as I don't have the original transmissions to compare them too. Some episodes seem incredibly short, reading on various forums they state that the episodes in this set are sometimes longer and sometimes shorter than previous UK releases but it seems the Australian sets are longer than the UK ones but I'm not certain if they are uncut. Looking at some episode reviews at Minder.org they state something happens at, for example, 50m 20s but the episode is actually only 48m long.

You are correct, Depeding on which Minder DVDs you buy, Some have been butchered by the Company releasing them some are completly intact. I beleive the Aussie DVDs are produced by a company called Umbrella and they left the episodes intact. The uk dvds released by Freemantel have been edited to get rid of the advert screen caps and other scenes etc.

The series was made for transmission on ITV.
The governing body for ITV (then IBA) had rules and regs as to how many ad breaks were allowed per hour, and how long they should be.

I was then working freelance - and have worked on & off for Euston films - on most of "Sweeney" series one (made in 1974), a handful of one-offs, and also a handful of "Minders" between 1979 and the late 80s.

You will find many (if not all episodes) will run for about 48 to 50minutes screen time - including titles.
The "missing" 10 to 12minutes would be split across three advert breaks - ranging from 3.3minutes to 4minutes in length.
As far as I was aware- some episodes had material added - such as stuff removed at last minute due to the IBA rulings.

A couple of the "Sweeney" episodes did have material added and actually ran for 58-59minutes.

If you watch the re-runs on ITV4, there is a lot missing- to fit in the 100s of ad breaks, sponsorship bumpers etc.
Which is annoying considering we spent 14hours a day, 5 days a week carting equipment round the lesser scenic parts of West London in the pouring rain and snow to make some of these episodes!!!!!!
