Oh my. Curse The Hut and their darn bargains. This looks well nice, but spent so much already today. So, someone else, please enjoy it and then tell me how good it is.
Seven classic old Sci-Fi movies for a bargain price. Featuring some of the genre's defining movies from that golden age of fantasy cinema, the fifties period of post-war affluence and Cold War paranoia. This combination of the newly minted teenager with cash to spend at the drive in and the constant sense of impending nuclear doom combined to inspire filmmakers who created 100s of films during the period that dealt with mutated creatures and alien invaders, with films that plugged into the audiences fears of communist infiltration and the deadly menace of atomic fallout.
Leading this box set is Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the defining moment in 'Reds under the bed' cinema, but it also includes Tarantula, one of the best giant bug movies, This Island Earth, a stylish alien abduction flick, the still impressive Incredible Shrinking Man, which has special effects that stand up 50 years after the fact and The Thing From Another World, another anti-commie film in which a group of polar scientists are invaded by a shape shifting alien. With no one knowing whose human and who isn't, the movie creates an amazing atmosphere of fear and mistrust and it's this creepiness that inspired John Carpenter to remake it with an extremely gory take on the original story. Also included in the box: The Creature From The Black Lagoon and It Came From Outer Space
