No, we dont need them... it just makes it more festive.. maybe.. or the electricity bill sky high - but hey, if you dont mind that sort of thing then go for it!

Be VERY VERY careful with ordering anything from these people.I've just ordered several Xmas things and the site confirmed that the items are in stock and available for home delivery. You even have to put your postcode in for them to check and after doing that, the site STILL confirmed that the items were available.HOWEVER, AFTER you have given them you card details and MADE the payment, when you get the order confirmation, just literally a minute after it has been confirmed the items are available, it stated that most of the items I had chosen were now NO LONGER available...so I have ended up paying the £5.80 odd delivery item for a couple of items costing LESS than the delivery charge.VERY VERY underhand so be warned!!

hi - thanks for the tip - great bargains to be had - or so I thought!!! Bought several sets of the clear lights, berry lights, small outdoor cherry tree etc etc - went through checkout - they took the payment and gave me order ref - only then did I discover only 3 sets of the lights at £1.32 each are in stock and they just said sorry items out of stock - so I have paid £5.80 for delivery of 3 small sets of lights - not such a great bargain after all.
Be warned folks!!!

Standard and Next day delivery only £5.80. Saturday delivery only £8.70

jdr116 great minds eh??!!
we sent pretty much the same message at exactly the same time. This is so unfair that they do this - surely there is a way to tell you the items are out of stock and giving you the option to proceed with the order - or not!! VERY sneaky and even worse when yu are only buying the things because you think you are getting some bargains:-(

Same thing happened to me, wanted to get some soft white LED lights, but showed out of stock after payment process. Did manage to get some fairy lights though, so happy with that! H+R added

sorry guys.. i know deliv is a rip off!! and sometimes it says out of stock one minute and instock the next... same as cr*ppy argos!!

and yes, i do know they are the same company!!
#11
Some great stuff on there, but even though it says stuff is in stock, when you put in payment details it seems to have a closer look. I just tried it on 7 things and now it's not sending 3 of them (even though I seem to be able to go back and order them!). So it's £5.80 postage for £10.23 in products! I'm trying to cancel, but there's no automatic way of doing it now.

Not your fault, but I have to vote cold for that.

Edit: Everyone else wrote the same thing at the same time!

has anyone tried to order any christmas trees? thanks

Hello Angel, my "great mind" buddy!! :o) I think its VERY unfair and on the point of being a RIP OFF, the way that Homebase are treating their customers.IF an item is out of stock, then SAY SO..don't cheat people and then leave NO WAY out for them when the items they have ordered suddenly appear out of stock AFTER your card has been debited and the order completed.WONT buy anything online from this company again.
#14
I emailed Homebase to cancel my order, but assuming they don't get to it before delivery Monday morning, I'll be refusing to sign for it. I'd suggest anyone else in the same boat does the same thing. They should get the message when they have to stomach the cost of the delivery.

It really is very cheeky, but I'll give them chance to offer to deliver for free or at a reduced price. I'd still like one or two of the items that are in stock.

Incidentally, things that I couldn't get were:
* Penguin and reindeer silhouette lights
* White cherry tree

This does indeed happen. I have spoken to them about this and, apparently, it's because the stuff comes from your local warehouse, which it only checks for stock later in the order process. Can't really understand this as a reason, as when you give the postcode it should be able to tell you then that it won't be available.

Still a hot deal though, as, hopefully, I've got over £220 worth of lights coming for less than £40. The only thing I couldn't get was the set of 160 Multi Effect LED Indoor/Outdoor Lights - Bright White. However, I did get confirmation for the following items:
240 Multi Effect LED Indoor/Outdoor Lights - Blue
160 Multi Effect LED Indoor/Outdoor Lights - Multi Colour
160 Indoor Christmas Lights - Multi Colour
240 Multi Effect Indoor/Outdoor Christmas Lights - Coloured :)

Not directly related to this deal but my experience earlier this year buying a barbeque smoker from Homebase was an absolute fiasco. By far my worst online shopping experience this decade. Totally useless rude staff.

When I realised there was a problem I emailed to alert them but they didn't respond, in fact they didn't even read it for two days. If they had it would have saved a lot of trouble. I did get refunded but not at first the p&p. When I called about the p&p I asked why they hadn't read the email and the snotty cow said "We don't have enough people here to read the email every day!" Which just about sums up their approach to ecommerce afaict.

Same boat as others, ordered some stuff to find out that half is out of stock after the final payment page. Yet still in stock on the site to order again! All they need is one more final check page that really does show the true stock status of products in the local warhouses. Come next week i'm email to complain about the postage costs for only sending half the order.

Yeah, that's the crazy thing. It presumably checks before showing anything on the page. Then checks again once you put in your postcode and address, and then seems to check a final time after accepting your card and order.

It's not as if someone else has bought the last one while you were faffing about in your wallet either. Because you can go back and do the whole process again, including putting in your postcode and seeing stuff you've just been told as out of stock, in stock!

It really is horrible. Lesson learnt for me there, I hope.

ooh dear.. i ordered some GIANT merry christmas signs for £4.99 worth £40 off there a while ago, all the best stuff has gone really!! they also reduced everything to £1 at one point, by accident.. and i ordered lots then.

·just to let ppl know the Fibre Optic Tree - White - 6ft 164/2601
out of stock

I'd like to order but won't based on the cost of the P+P and the fact that no doubt most of the items I order won't be in stock. Still voted hot though.

Well, not wishing to defend them, but it's the credit card companies that hold on to it. For us it takes 8 days to get paid by Amex, and nearly 5 weeks to be paid by the others.

Liked the Christmas tree at £8.80 only available instore, my local store had 3 in stock but you pay the price instore on the day of purchase, still £68.49 and not the £8.80 online. also website now shows no stock for instore collection but enter post code and it still shows 3 in stock:: three other stores in my area are showing 4 , 13 and 19 in stock x

Ordered about £200 - actually received £57.50 inc p&p,

Problems were:

1) No confirmation email received - web site actually gave some sort of error - so I had no idea whether I had actually ordered or not!! (no problems with my pc on any other website)
2) No packing note with goods
3) I had to ring an 0845 number and was on the line for 15 mins after being transferred 3 times (would have helped if I had an order number) - I eventually was able to confirm what had been ordered by argos direct.
4) They are unable to forward a receipt - so I will have to keep a close eye on my bank statement to make certain that just the £57.50 was taken out.

all in all, not really sure it was worth it for some Christmas lights!

hope this helps someone else anyhow :-)
#32
oh, I've also just worked it out, the lights should have cost me £38.50 + £5.95 (approx) for delivery - that's £44.45!? so I need to find out where they got £57.50 from!?
