Clearance comet - grab a bargain!

This isn't a deal as such but have never seen anyone post about this site and it's definetly worth a look if your looking for something that comet sell.

Basicly this is where Comet sell off their clearance stuff.. but the good bit is they auction it off!you will be bidding on a specific item as they are usually items that have been returned for a number if reasons...e.g washing machine - returned due to dent in side

I personally bought my washing machine from this site - it should of been £350 but we paid £229 (inc delivery... which i believe is about £20)and all that was wrong with it was it had a scratch on the right side!

You will need to register befor you can bid

Look interesting, but at the moment the earliest stuff 'closing' is a day & a half/two days away so difficult to know what the last minute bidding gets like?
Certainly worth a snoop around though.

PS - Hope the cold's a bit better!

I think this has been posted a few times in the past and there were quite a few negative comments about the quality of goods as compared to the price. Plus if I remember right they charge a delivery charge which is usually free on the comet site.

Like any auction site it's a situation where there can be good deals and bad, it just depends on your luck.

What if it goes wrong, comet is the opposite of costco.

Iceland used to have an appliance clearance store not far from me in Walworth Rd (S.E. London) selling off exactly these kinds of items & I've had a couple of bargains over the years. It's no different to any other purchase in that you should ignore the RRP listed & compare COMPARABLE products elsewhere. I'm sure not every item will be a bargain, but it seems kinda harsh to just say 'waste of time' without seeing the final selling price on a range of items first (even if some of the listed items MAY be dearer than a comparable 'new' product).
Obviously when it's a store rather than a site, sorting your own transport can provide further savings.

As Admin says delivery is also on top which is steep bringing bashed goods even closer to there new prices

Regional: £24.95 delivered usually within 10 days
National: £29.95 delivered usually within 14 days.

Not saying there is no good bargains to be found but I personally wouldn't waste my time with it.

I bought a dishwasher from the auction site at Xmas. Saved over £120 on the in store price & when it arrived it didnt have half of the supposed damage on it. It had one tiny scratch on the side which cant even be seen as it is plumbed in next to my washer!!

Its obviously hit and miss as to whether you get a bargain or not. I got a washing machine last year with no mention of damage in the description - had a big dent in the front so I sent it straight back. The delivery guys were very helpful - they pointed the dent out to me before unloading and asked if I still wanted it - Comet admin also really good - refunded with no hassle.

Also, I looked at the site earlier this week - there was a Sony PVR which had bids Higher than the 'instore' price shown next to the item!:w00t:

The Wembley store near the stadium is a clearence store and there is also one more in NE London.

They only stocks Rubish and ex displayed items. They are often damaged.

It is cheaper to find the same item on the net brand new than thru it's clearance stores or there auction site.

I've had a washing machine and a freezer from here and both were a bargain. Of course you get those idiots who don't look at the delivery price or are happy to get £5 quid off the new price for a scratched item, but bargains can be had. Watch out for the 'price in store' it is the price the item was when the item was listed. It may have dropped subsequently.

There are also people who get auction fever - at christmas I was outbid on ebay for a guitar, that eventually went for £127 - I simply bought the one on Buy-it-now for £85 from the same seller.
