Just reading some of the reviews I cam across this

27th Jun 2008
Good, BUT??
I agree with the comments of other satisfied users but a couple of things are annoying. 1. It doesn't come with a mains charger unit, appears to have been removed from the box, as the instructions say there is one. 2. Battery life is not brilliant compared to an earpiece. 3. When charging from a cigarette lighter, it will not operate until you unplug the charger!! There's no information on what the 'mode' switch does. Having said that, its excellent value and the clarity is impressive.

I have a Jabra and have it connected to 12v all the time. If this unit really does not operate whilst charging it is of no use to me and maybe others looking.

Why do you have your Jabra connected all the time, does it hold a charge? What if you want to use a Sat Nav or anything else with the lighter socket. This review closes with "Its excellent value and the clarity is impressive" and that was at £19.95 + £2.50 P&P. This is £14.99 inc P&P if I bought a different one for twice the price I would expect it to be twice as good - but would it be?

gonna order one. my car would be the ultimate test for this thing. I love the engine noise and its very noisy in my car :-) all the previous kits have failed and there's absolutely no way I can hear the current Nokia earpiece at 70mph.

Will post a review when I get it although not happy with the charging solution but as I said nothing works in my car so I need something that will, I'll need to find a way to avoid all the wiring in my car.

Don't forget the quidco kiddos!

I have my Jabra connected all the time so that I can just forget about it. I have managed to position my Jabra on the drivers door pillar so the mic is at a mouth high position and the cable goes completely hidden down the door post and to a 3 in 1 cigarette charger in the drivers footwell.

I have my sat nav cable running down the same door pillar to the 3 in 1 cigarette charger.

I use the last socket of the 3 in 1 charger for my mobile phone.

So as you can see I cannot take advantage of this fantastic deal as it would be a backward step.

So sadly I had to go for this deal instead.

I can't comment on the seemingly dud battery scenario as I'm using 12v all the time.

An extra 3 quid bought my 3 in 1 cigarette charger

Perhaps you may want to look at my setup as an alternative, as another poster here has seen the downside of the charging of this unit.

I have a more expensive one than this which is just about usable, but gets iffy at high speed because of (low!) engine & road noise, and have given up on buying any more like this sort of thing, I will get round to getting a bluetooth radio head unit eventually when I get fed up enough! ;-)

It should work on the N95, no reason not to.

The only reason I can think of is that the list was produced before the N95 was released!

After getting the world's worst bluetooth headset, a Jabra BT5010, (for use with the PC on VOIP, so not exactly an extreme situation!) I can't see I will be buying ANYTHING Jabra again :-(

Yeah I reckon you are spot on

Apparently it can work with N95, that's if this product is the same, looks as if it is.

Jabra SP 500, 5 Sep 2007
By J. M. Spriggs (Gloucestershire, England) - See all my reviews

Having had good service from the BT range of Jabra products I opted for this hands free product, after reading the reviews which were quite strong when I purchased.

On delivery the batteries were dead, and during use the reception and microphone quality at the receiver's end have been nothing but downright poor.

I am very disappointed after my earlier experiences with Jabra and this piece of kit is going in the bin after three months of torturous use, which now sees me avoid all mobile calls.

Good while it works. However, it is not charging any longer. This is a second Jabra device breaking down after a few months. Poor reliability.

For goodness sake do you want me to cut & paste the poor reviews from your find.

I just pointed out that this item does not allow the system to be used whilst charging. Whilst not important to you, it is extremely important to me, and I thought it would be nice to share my findings with others. Would you agree £14.99 plus quidco would not be a good deal if someone, like me, was looking to have the unit plugged in all the time. Or is that an option that is not allowed in your world.

I do not know if you have actually ordered one of these kits yet or if you intend to at all. All I can say that if it performs for you as well as mine does for me, you should be happy.

One other thing to add, as already stated, my jabra is luckly able to be attatched to my car on the front pillar using the clip supplied for the visor. Personaly I found the unit on the visor was really annoying. Every time I wanted to actually use my visor the unit ended up facing the screen and needed to be moved. My placement has overcome that problem. Of course every car is different so I consider myself lucky

By the way I can vote hot if it makes you happy. Just let me know

I am just pointing out the jabra has issues holding a charge - if you are happy to have something constantly plugged in to your lighter socket it's your choice. The clip and talk can be charged via usb, and one review stated he could charge it with his satnav mains charger. If you are happy to have wires dangling all over the place why bother with bluetooth? Play.com are now out of stock for the clip and talk but still have plenty of Jabra SP500s so do Amazon at £9.99 inc P&P

Pointless talking with you any further. You have quite clearly demonstrated that you have taken umbrage to me showing a possible downside of the item you posted. It seems to me that the Jabra I have does have issues with the batteries supplied, although as you could well imagine it would be of no consequence to me. As I said if you are as happy with your purchase as much as I am with my Jabra then we will both be happy. I have no wires dangling at all, and use bluetooth to wirelessly connect my phone to the Jabra. I think you are a bit confused. Really a visor is not a good place to put the unit as expalined in my previous posting. I do note that some choose to attatch it to the dashboard though.

Have a nice life, and an extremely good find. Well done

I've got mine delivered and it works fine in the saloon but in my roadster its useless!

The other party can't hear me and I can't hear them, granted not many cars are as noisy as mine but this is not as loud as some of the reviews on play.com (or amazon) make it out to be.

Also, its £19.99 at tesco stores
