Went to Sainsburys in Tamworth tonight and all Sainsburys are doing 25% off 6 bottles or more of wine.
Found many special offers, Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc amongst them but bets of the bunch was Cloudy Bay Pelorus Vintage 2002 in sale from £16 something to £8.50, further reduced by 25% when you buy 6 of any wine.
Not sure if in all Sainsburys but worth a look.
Cloudy Bay Pelorus Vintage 2002
'The best example of Pelorus I've ever tasted. Power-plus with a pungent aroma and great complexity.'
Taste Magazine, New Zealand - Bob Campbell MW - November 2007
Best Sparkling Wine
'Green Point's Tony Jordan, working closely with Cloudy Bay's Kevin Judd, has bought freshness and lift to the sometimes over-yeasty Pelorus Vintage style. The 60/40 Pinot/Chardonnay blend has a white flower nose with savoury complexity from which the finesse of the Chardonnay will emerge further.'
Decanter, UK Steven Spurrier May 2007
'This is one of the best from Pelorus, plenty of zing with warm buttery notes and equal degrees of citrus tang and sweet ripe fruit leading to a satisfying, lingering finish derived from a judicious blending of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. At around $42, it's a great buy for enjoying as an everyday aperitif among friends or sharing with guests on a special occasion, Pelorus is New Zealand's sparkling wine at it's best: vibrant, well constructed, delicious and memorable.'
Metro Magazine, New Zealand Kerry Tyack May 2007
'You could age this wine but then again you could just enjoy its full-bodied, pinot noir-led impressive weight in the mouth. It's one of New Zealand's best bubbles and its release a month ago makes it perfect for drinking today.'
