A good price for the special edition ....

Cloverfield is one of the most exciting and frightening sci-fi horrors of the last decade. A wobbly-rollercoaster ride that weaves its rickety way through darkened subways and exploding skyscrapers to avoid the powerful, terrifying and destructive force that has New York City under attack. Matt Reeves' monster-horror combines suspense, terror and explosions within its sudden, claustrophobic, and tension-filled scenes of desperate New Yorkers struggling to stay alive.

Rob's (Michael Stahl-David) impending trip to Tokyo is put on hold when, during his going away party, a devastating and frightening presence starts to destroy the city. As the explosions, screams and devastation increase, Rob, his brother Jason (Mike Vogel) and their group of friends face the most difficult decision of their lives. As Rob's long-term friend and current love interest Beth (Odette Yustman) is trapped alone in her apartment on the other side of the city, do they attempt to save themselves and flee the city to safety or head further in to the ruin and save Beth?

good price, rubbish film.

If you skipped the first 15mins I loved this movie. Best to watch it late, in the dark to get the video type atmosphere. :)

if they would have filmed it properly i think it would have been really good. The camera just made me feel sick though. lol.

needed to be more gore though!

The film is good but the camera is better. Anything that puts up with that level of abuse and still works... :whistling:

I quite enjoyed it. But then I like tacky films like this. Better than a kick in the poo-pipe

GREAT movie; GREAT price.

I went in with pretty poor expectations after various reviews on here and other places, and it wasn't all THAT bad ... I think it was more fun because I had been to New York and 'recognised' quite a few streets etc, which made it seem more real (even though a fair bit was filmed outside NY).

I liked it. It was hyped to high heaven, which didn't help, but it was well done I thought. Great price for the double disc - heat added!

I think if you can go in with low expectations and STILL be disappointed then it really does prove that the film is a steaming pile of pants.

How steady do you think your filming would be when surrounded by mayhem and destruction? Thats the whole point of the film. Storywise, its supposed to have been filmed on a bog standard hi-def video cam. So the camerawork is quite appropriate. The sound however is another matter entirely. O, how I would love to own such a camera that could record Dolby TrueHD 5.1 on the fly ;-).

Cloverfield... ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Not worth the case it ships in!

No only lilly livered pussies got motion sick watching this film. They`ve been making films with these dodgy cam techniques for decades. Never made me feel ill. Not as bad as watching Dirty Dancing did anyway!!;-)

I quite liked this film. It just wasn`t the totally new genre of film they were trying to make out is was gonna be! It`s just blair witch monster movie.

I used to live in NYC and it made no difference to the fact that the film was awful.

Why would the fact that you lived in NYC make any difference to the quality of this film??

Because I mentioned that it was a bit more interesting, in that I could recognise streets and so forth. Never mind.

As for the motion sickness, a lot of people have an intolerance to that style of film. Similarly, some people might remember that the game Half Life 2 made some people feel ill, as the viewing arc in-game was slightly wider than the regular human field of vision. I think some cinemas had a disclaimer outside screens!

I love it! hot.

I didnt get the point of the film. And the twist at the end? Was expecting a lot more than what it was. Terrible waste of time :(
#28
Watched this film on saturday. I have never been more relieved for a film to end . Total garbage
#29
i cant believe some of you guys didnt get the simplicity of this movie

Good price, great film

If only I could find the steelbook version at a decent price now.
#31
I didnt think it was that bad a film in the final scenes where there is some film from the ferris wheel,if you look in the distance you will see something fall from the sky and land in the water, thats where hte creature was supposed to come from.
#32
Pants film, not even worth buying from the £1 shop!
#33
amazing how polarised opinion is on this film

normally some people would hate, some people would love, there'd be people in between - but this is pure marmite
#34

this film is the biggest load of shte ever,
special 2 disc version WTF could possibly be special about this,

I saw that and thought... "and???" "Is that it???"

So they had filmed it a few weeks back. Now there is a twist! Not since the Sixth Sence have I seen such a twist! :whistling:

I didn't realise this happens in the background at the end of the film. But truefully, I was just glad the film ended because I thought it was ****. I would hardly say that is much of a twist. A twist would be that the monster turned out to be Robs mum! But by the end, who would give a s***
#38
was a good film - shame about the ending bit

how the hell does a camera survive all that radiation at the end?!

That's what I felt about this movie too - they had fantastic special effects and the story wasn't too bad either but they completely ruined a very watchable movie with the 100 quid camcorder effect - wasting millions of $$$'s of special effects......

At least it wasn't as bad as that Blair Witch nonsense....scary...?

What scared me was people being scared by that movie!!! :w00t:
