What on earth does that mean? Sounds like the same situation as R4/M3 - perhaps there is a law in hong kong stating that flashcard companies must split into rival products after they reach a certain level of popularity? :?

Isn't that a HUKD referral link? It puts in the same referral number with another DX deal that I just tried fro a different member.
#6
So I'm correct in thinking this is basically identical to the DSTT?
#7
From what I gather these or made by a Splinter Cell oF the DSTT original team

A bit more expensive, but isn't this better.
I don't know personally but it seems better as the card goes in the side.

I suppose so, but I've never had a problem with it falling out on the "old" one though.

Help please, I'm a technophobe!
What's the difference between these links? Looking at the comments on all, there appears to be some confusion as to whether they are fakes or not? Or is that just scaremongering?
I just want a card that won't blow up my DS!!!
#12
There's been lots of confusion with these cards - I have just received my shipment of 3 NDSTT (not these
'CNDSTT') cards, which incidentally turn out not to be the 'genuine' card. So now I've got to send them back and deal with potentially poor customer service from DX.

These CNDSTT cards have just popped up (to my knowledge) copying the packaging and appearance of the new NDSTT packaging (deal recently posted).

'CNDSTT' company claims to have split from NDSTT. Confusing-ish bit:

- The NDSTT.com site gives images of the new genuine, end of life, and 'fake' cards. (The ones I had were 'fake'.)

- The CNDSTT.com site gives images of it's 'genuine' card (which is the 'fake' on NDSTT) and two images of "fake" cards (which on the NDSTT site are 'genuine').

Personally, I'd prefer to go with NDSTT -there's talk of the Anti-Fake Killer firmware etc. which could knacker future fakes or at least the SD card you put in it. My guess is you don't want to put new/future ndstt firmware on your cndstt. There are threads on GBAtemp.net relating to 'CNDSTT' and 'NDSTT' if you want to look into it yourself (which I recommend doing).

With this confusion, if you can afford it you might want to consider spending a couple of pounds more and get an AceKard 2 or Edge. - But it's up to you. Make as much of an 'informed' choice as you can. I don't want to add to the confusion, but that's some more info for you and you can look into it.

I noticed exactly the same thing!
Personally, I would doubt and card reader for the DS will brick your DS.
I got what is essentially the "CNDSTT" (fake according to NDSTT, but geuine according to CNDSTT!). The shiny black sticker was stuck on wonkey, but had the URL for WWW.NDSTT.COM I used the boot software from here as well, even though it is the CNDSTT version.

Yeah, I've checked the images in detail. I'm not sure what to do really. On the one hand it may be perfectly fine and saves me the hassle of returning them. On the other hand I'm pretty annoyed that DX have made this mistake, they are known for it! But hey, that's how it goes sometimes.

I did fancy getting an AK2 or Edge at the time but against my better judgement I decided to be cheap instead!

There's probably hundreds of us out there in this situation and DX are aware of this - there's a note on the page for the NDSTT in new packaging - they're only shipping the black ones out now and not the white cases as we've received. They have put up their "Contact Us" link for those of us with incorrect items - I was going to do it, just need to upload images when I get home etc.

So we can return them. I don't think they would brick the DS unless you got a rogue card, it's more knackering the DSTT cartridge and possibly the Micro SD card.

What firmware did you put on your card? I've heard that 1.15 is fine, but 1.16 might not be. Did you order more than one?
#17
i have put 1.16 (from dstt) on mine and they all work, i have heard that 1.16 from cndstt is exactly the same files. dstt supposedly have a fake killer but it is NOT included in 1.16

here is the link to DX wrong item received
http://services.dealextreme.com/forms/Replacement_IncorrectItem.aspx
i have filled it in but i dont have the original package, see what they say i guess

An easy clue instead of opening the cart is to check the side that the Micro SD slot appears on. Look at it from the front (where the TTDS sticker is). Is the slot on the right or the left (at the top of the card)?

Do you have to return item in original packaging?

I'm gonna contact DX today. I've decided that whilst they may be fine putting the NDSTT firmware on, I'm not gonna put up with being sent the incorrect items, I'd like to be 100% confident about the product (although there's always a tiny risk).

Maybe we should start a thread in 'Misc', although it is part-related to the product. It's just that there may be many more people in this situation and it might be better to have a dedicated thread rather than kinda hijack this one.

Sorry for another long post!

whats the big concern with the fake / not fake debate !!!!

The cards work, so whats the problem. They are not made by Sony - they all come out of dodgy Chinese sweatshops. The fakes could be better built than the originals.

The point is we purchased NDSTT and it looks like we received CNDSTT, now for a start the CNDSTT are cheaper.
And i would expect both brands to disappear very soon because of this confusion, the price of both has already fallen big time since this mess started

Do you have one of these cards? If not, then you aren't going to feel the same way. As we've said, it may be fine, it may not, we've bought them and it's our micro sd cards and money involved, so we're entitled to discuss it. It's also about how DX misrepresented the product in claiming that they were 100% genuine etc. There are people on the DX forums that have ordered quite a few of these cards and have had 30% not work (white screen etc.) so you can't just claim that 'they work'.

Yes it's a cheap product and whatever anyone may think about the cards i.e. where they're made, who by, and what for, it doesn't change the fact that we are consumers who have each bought a product in good faith, entered into a contract with a retailer, 'assured' that the product is genuine, and find that it isn't. Thus if there are those of us who aren't happy with it then we can at least discuss returning it if we want to and shouldn't have to justify our concerns.

after several emails to and fro they are sending a replacemet out for free

I ordered one on 16/11, but was not able to test it until today when the DS turned up (on my kids birthday!)
It's the fake, and booted for the first few attempts but now white screen.
Any ideas on how to get this working while I source a new one... got one sad daughter (and its dadys fault for not getting a DS earlier).. Any help appreciated.

If it is broke, it's broke.

I too stuck with SKU 15613 (not the CN one)... made 6 purchases of them over the past several months and I'm glad to say that I got all genuine ones (per anti-fake pics on ndstt.com). My most recent purchase was late december and despite DX site saying "shipping new black ones" I got (genuine) white ones. So be careful - I would caution against ordering the CN-DSTT model tho - I don't see them putting out updates like the original site.

Does This Take The Micro Sd Cards Like The The N5 Etc?
