Mines flagged up as failing after a few months use (~65% filled), speeds ground to a halt, I was ready to bin the drive after freaking out about lost data.
I managed to successfully transfer all my files off it, (it took almost 72 hours!) so finally figured that I had nothing to lose by opening the caddy to take the drive out. The drive remains in my server, it started functioning properly again once outside the caddy, its main use now is for non-important documents these days.
1. The caddy seems broken, bad/no air ventilation. "false" health reports using utility's such as HD Tune.
2. MDT Hard drives -> reported to be rebranded/refurbished Maxtors.
For the price, its not bad but I would personally recommend spending more and having the knowledge that the drive isn't a refurb (I didnt know this when I bought this). Data loss is a terrible thing to have to go through!

Jump to unread Post a CommentExactly the question i was going to ask. I have a 750GB CNM drive I bought last year and that had an Hitachi drive in it.
3TB under £100 ? Soon be time to buy hard drives again at this rate ;)
Hot deal for me.
One word of warning, I bought an external 2.5" drive (I know this is 3.5) last year thinking I could use it in a laptop, but the controller board had the USB socket on it, no SATA/Power, so it might be worth having a hunt about to see if this is a case with a proper drive in.
If I can find out, think one will be going in my Microserver.
Thanks OP

It's terrible and they don't even list this as a product they make, but might be useful for reference in the future!

Assuming you want one for a laptop.
Cheap and cheerful one here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Express-Expresscard-Adapter-Compatible-Windows/dp/B004EXNXJ4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1348529394&sr=8-3.
Only £7.90 and good reviews.
Sorry I should have stated, it's for a desktop. Mine only has USB2 at the moment, would like a new card to put inside.
