Prices falling all the time
Netbook users need a DVD really which can be had on USB for around £25 lately
Not much of a premium for blu ray
Shame it doesn't say linux or osx

Good price. Heat added

The speeds aren't great, but it's perfect for watching bluray movies and writing DVDs/CDs - good for media centre PC. Considering a slim DVD writer drive is £25-30 this isn't much of a premium for bluray.

External bluray drives seem to go for over £100.

Good price.

Are external slimline drives just laptop drives in a caddy?
Could you dismantle the caddy & fit the drive into a laptop?

I've done this before with a slim dvd drive so don't see why not apart from the warranty issues

Shame none of the 15% britvic codes for zavvi & IWOOT or 10% walkers codes for thehut & zavvi work on this product :(

I know it says "Supports Laptops, netbooks and PC's only" but is there any reason why I couldn't also plug this in to my Samsung LCD HD tv which also has a USB? (Or would I be better off plugging in to laptop and streaming through TV's ethernet socket via a homeplug?)

Good deal, although I don't trust budget external drives. They never seem to burn discs correctly.

whats that mean in English?

Does this connect to the PC via USB or just gain power from it?
#22
Wow it even writes to them! If I had any need at all for a blue ray drive I'd be all over this. As it is, I can wait :)

It only writes to cd/dvd media

Are you using the two USB cords? Without sufficient power they can be quite flaky.

Anyway, this offer is not as good as IWOOT during the weekend (I know, that is also the Hut). For this price, you could easily build one from a case and a slimline drive.

Can anyone confirm if this drive will happily read bluray discs with just the single usb cable connected?
