Co-op has a great fish range this Christmas. Good value too and even Aldi beating on value. Scottish Freedom Food Salmon where as Aldi is Norwegian.

In store from Wednesday 17th December are packs of raw wild lobster tails. 2 x 120g tails for only a tenner. If anything like the Aldi ones last year they'll go quick.

Morrisons are £5.99 and Waitrose £6.99 for one 90g tail so great value. Perfect for a Christmas Day starter but I'll be having surf and turf this Saturday.

Also seen in the leaflet:

King Prawn and Scottish Salmon Terrine with Semi Dried Tomato 360g £6 - Aldi frozen version £7.99

6 Large Scallops and Garlic Butter only £5.

Large Orange Infused Scottish Salmon Side with Honey and Maple Drizzle 1kg for £12 - Aldi over £13 per kg.

Smoked Scottish Salmon 180g for £3.49

Scottish Smoked Salmon Triple Packs 220g and Marinated King Prawn Triple Packs for £6.

Additional 10% off for NUS/Young Scot card holders too.

Is this better than whole cooked lobsters currently at Aldi, Iceland and Lidl? Maybe it cooks better from raw? Does anyone know?

Aldi are selling these for 1p cheaper. More meat in the tails. Looking a the reviews posted for the frozen ones they don't contain much meat and the tail meat comes out pretty easy if you halve the tails into four portions.
Heat added - I've been looking for lobster tails for weeks.Iceland had them in for one day and never got them again.
When are the Aldi ones out ?
I will ask my local coop about them for wednesday
thanks OP

Nicer by far
I think raw is always nicer than frozen as they just taste better and more firm, they can be watery when previously frozen...but need to cook them fresh ones carefully as they can quickly go rubbery
Have they been frozen before?

If they have (like Morrisons) you can't refreeze.
got some today but they are use before 22/12 and only one shipment being sent out so they aren't any good for christmas food
I spotted the frozen aldi ones last week.
Never tried it so might do while it's double discount for coop staff. Thanks

any advice on cooking these bad boys?

Just don't hold it when they are alive :p
Isn't buying these a bit shellfish ?
Do they ride around town on their bikes with leather jackets on?
The description just made my 10x hungrier.

Not online :(
saw one of these reduced to £4 in morrisons tonight.. think they were around this price originally
I got 2 lobster tails not long ago from Iceland for £7, I thought they were okay and pimped up my steak and chips into surf n turf :)
Just need to check that it's cold water lobster ( eg North atlantic) rather than warm water (eg Indian Ocean)

2 for £10 seems reasonable for a bit of Christmas luxury.. Heat added!

Split in half, boil or flash fry tails in oil, to quickly cook, remove from pan. Bit of oil lightly fry ginger, garlic and spring onions. Add lobster tails back in and add a shot of brandy. Add fish stock (or chicken stock), salt to taste and a squirt of oyster sauce and simmer for a couple of minutes. To thicken sauce add a bit of cold water to two teaspoons of cornflour, mix into paste and add to your pan. Enjoy !
Don't know about wild.Expect they are livid!
Fish, FISH? Lobsters and shrimp are not fish!!!

But yeah, sure it's a decent deal if I liked seafood :)
and only joking with the first bit, it's true, but joking.
yum yum lobster (they are halal by the way- anything from the sea is).(ref

good find. hot.

I'm sure I could stretch to these at a pinch X)
What about the rest of it.....claws are tasty !
Hot. Even though, 120g is a tiny lobster... More like a king/tiger prawn (which easily reach 300g each)
