Typical, a Veggie wants to make a point about a meal containing meat. Why do they do this? What's up, has Tofu become unavailable?
Jesus, we aren't complaining we are just wondering if we can take advantage of the offer too! What's the problem with that?
Wild garlic and hedge cuttings are widely available this time of year, ping them for 30secs and you've a lovely Veggie meal for free. Now that's a hot deal!

Re: reduced items, the question is surely whether a Co-Op-branded item that is reduced still qualifies for the 5% "reward" or is just treated like all the non-branded items (0% "reward").

Sadly the Co-Op, despite being a local convenience store for most, is literally the furthest store away from me of all the major supermarkets (including Aldi and Lidl), which is the main reason my Co-Op membership card gets so little use. Even the Cooperative Bank has a closer branch to me than Co-Op Food does, which is quite some achievement!

I confirm you still earn 5% on reduced co op branded items

huh, places that can afford what?

The cost of the discount - profiteering corporates mostly. Co-op at least have a charitable and local ethos.

I asked the same question today. all Co-op branded products earn 5% even if discounted, but you get 5% of the discounted rate

Co op is more expensive than most places, however I find with NUS card and careful selection of deals you can do quite well.

They also reduce items quite regularly and significantly so you can pick up some bargains if you pop in daily and have a look.

Quality is also much better .e.g the wholemeal farmhouse loaf is one of the best I've had and it's 75p before discount.

so basically, the shop you food shop at dictates what you eat, and when (according to thier pricing) oO

to an extent I would agree, not really suitable for a family I agree... but I have a co op and a morrisons both within 2 minute walk of my workplace. I quite often kill some of my lunch hour having a browse, and will pick up some of the 'orange stickers' for tea that evening.

e.g. the co op 'finest' pizzas are lovely but quite pricey at £4.50 each... often pick them up for half price with orange sticker... same with meat etc

Co-op and the Midcounties Co-Operative are separate businesses. Please adjust the title and the photo if you don't want to disappoint people. On the other hand, they could probably use their brains instead, I suppose. For a treat.

I sometimes defrost some chicken portions and brine them with salt and sugar, coat them in flour, get cornflakes and put them in a bag and crush them with a rolling pin, crack an egg into a bowl and add a little milk, go down the pub, 6 hours later come home and buy a family chicken bucket and eat it all myself.

It's not mentioned on the web site but if you apply for free membership to the Co-Operative, not only do you get a few members only deals but they will also send you 2 £1 vouchers with your membership card to spend in-store. £5 minimum spend to use the vouchers.
to join it States "Become a member For a one-off payment of £1. "
Then once you registered "Become a member
Buy a £1 share to complete your registration and start earning rewards, a share in our profits and our future." So I'm out as never really use Coop, other than my bank, mostly online!

This seems like a very recent change. Was free when I posted this.

Neither on sale at any of the 3 Co-ops local to me ... at any price. Co-op have xome damn fool way of stocking their branches according to their imagination. Offers are never there despite being advertised, products proclaimed as stocked aren't, I got so fed up with it I sent my Co-op card back.

Personally found all Oreo ice cream products such a letdown.

Watch Co Op meal deals......they fill the meal deal freezer up with 'next weeks' deal and remove the individual prices so you think the freezer is the 'deal' freezer; then charge you full price.
Our Co Op does this EVERY deal and sometimes I have been too rushed to notice.
Also they put most of the next weeks' deal in the cabinet but make sure one item is not on display, that way the deal doesn't go through the till.
This weeks' deal was in the red 'Meal Deal' freezer as Alphabets, Chargrill Chick, Fishfingers, Peas and Ice Lollies. cost me £8.29. They stocked it there to catch customers out, omitted the dippers and charged me £3.29 on top of deal price.
Items would never have been bought at full price.
Back to Lidl now, only honest supermarket.
Co Op should change its marketing ads to include 'pop in, pay out'.
And yes, I did say 'Thank you Co Op' as per the ad, but trust me there was an expletive in there too!
donna_siddon

any one know if there's any if the stores up north selling these? we have loads of small co op which only do food
Think this is not the UK national co-op, but a different company called "mid-counties co-op"
The are all part of the same group
I work for the Nationwide Co-Op and I can assure you they aren't the same company, but they do interact quite a lot.
I didn't say company I said group - it's the regional part of the Co-op brand, it is split that way as well as the central region but all operating under and with the Co-Operative - but you are right they have their own board and operate independently.

That is a good price but item looks poor quality from the photos. Did you see it in store before you bought it? What was it like?
Yep - they had a display one, it's not as swish as the aluminium ones (4 x the price) you can get and it's easy to put together apart for the legs on the table but at this price even if I only get 2/3 years out of it I'm happy.

No be long before the Easter Eggs are oot then oO

That's Boxing Day!
The customer drives the release date! If the mince pies didn't sell they would go out of date so the shops wouldn't sell them. If you do not want the shops to start christmas early then don't buy any christmas stuff until later. If demand is not there they will not waste shelf space on it. I do think a large super market could actually run a promotion and not sell any Christmas stuff until 1st November, advertise the fact they are doing this and promote the fact that christmas is a winter event, they may lose a few early sales but would have massive gain in reputation.
What's wrong with mince pies outside of Christmas? All they are a pie filled with mince I personally love mince pies, and I think this offer is awesome. Saw them in ASDA too
It's not even Halloween yet :(
Seasons come... Seasons go...
The Shopping Season however is blended... so it's every day for everything for everyone ;)
