Overdose of simple carbs causes Diabetes (Type 2), hence why around 90% of people diagnosed are over weight.

That's weird because no Diabetes organisation in the world believes that and they list as the biggest myth about Diabetes.

You should write in and tell them.

You better tell that to Pakistani women who are 5 times more likely to develop Type 2 Diabetes, Bangladeshi women are 3 times more likely, Afro-Caribbean 3 times more likely.

Most be the prevalence of Coca Cola I guess oO

Here is a thought; next time I want medical scientific advice I will read actual scientific literature from the medical community.

Right, so how is it caused then? It's known that diet contributes to it. The pancreas has to shoot out enormous amounts of insulin to deal with the increase of massive amount of sugar/glucose within the blood stream. This eventually leads to pancreas burn out and insulin resistance. You know, kind of like when you drink too much alcohol and your liver screws up..

During the second world war, there were tribes located on various islands around the United States, these tribes had never really interacted with the western world and ate off the land. Diabetes was practically zero within the tribes. Then the US relocated them, as it needed the islands for military purposes. They were supplied US aid/food - you know, the kind of food high in simple carbohydrates. 70% of them went onto develop type 2 diabetes, and its the same for many different tribes with similar circumstances.

That video on the site you posted.. With the Dietitian, go to 1:54, and I quote...

"Its very easy if you eat and drink a lot sugar containing food and drink, you will gain weight and this
can lead to type 2 diabetes."

So.. Huh? It can cause it? Contradiction much?

It can be a factor but it's not a direct cause.
