HOT love Coke in glass bottles reminds me of the 60's

Sentiment? Spot on. Best out of glass.

Deal? Cold. These have been £2 in Asda for the past few months so this is actually an increase in price....
#3
Hot from me. I buy these all the time and they have been about £3.80ish in Asda for over a year. The recent £2 special offer was on the clearance of the World Cup gold bottles which were on sale originally at £3. Hope this is a long term price reduction and not just a special offer.

thanks for confirming that ;)

ok so these £3 are the red bottles and the £2 were world cup! im gonna get these and see what the difference is!
#6
Fair enough - yeah the £2 was for the world cup ones although what's the difference.

Is there any difference between the world cup ones and the red ones bar a gold wrapper on the bottle?
#7
clearly the price.
#8
I buy these from Costco, prices vary but it generally works out between 39-45p per bottle. Also in handy packs of 24!
#9
Do the glass bottle ones still have sugar in them or has it been ruined with corn syrup like everything else including coke out of cans and bottles?

In Newport Asda store they had both the gold and clear bottles on offer for £2 for 6.

I thought Coke in the UK (as in the rest of the EU) still used sucrose?

I'm pretty sure last time I looked on the ingredients list it said something weird instead of sugar and it was code for high fructose corn syrup.Maybe Sainsburys buy cheap from outside the EU, I don't know :P

How much for a case including vat? I but from Makro, works out the same as Asda at £12 per case.
#17
the world cup glass ones did not taste as good as the
regular glass ones.

let the debate begin

The price varies quite alot I find. They put it up, and then put a voucher in. Usually around £11, just over or just under.

Cheaper in costco...
#20
Yes this used to be £2 why is this hot?
#21

''used'' to be. No point saying they were £2 a few weeks ago, if they aren't available right now for less than £3 than no real reason why the deal should be voted cold.

Is for me because I would just say buy the 24 cans of coke for £5 instead from tesco. Has to be a certain thing in peoples mind how expensive these should be. Like 20p a can for coca cola is the amount I expect to pay for cans now.

I think you mean cane sugar. No, they don't :-(

It's weird, but you can only get the original glass bottled coke and pepsi made using the original recipe with cane sugar, in countries like Mexico and Cuba. Some shops in the US import it over as a sort of speciality item, which is where i had some - in a very strange supermarket called Jungle Jim's - and they tasted lush! The stuff we and the US get is gut rott, and tastes cloying and sickly in comparison.

does make me laugh that people are willing to pay so much more for exactly the same thing as a can in a glass bottle, what difference does the bottle make other than remind you of how things used to be ?

Your spot on. It's EXACTLY the same stuff, just in a bottle! lol
#27
The glass bottle is the original :)

I can't find in in any of my local stores

C lasification- cans tsaste like the metal has affected them, plastic bottles taste like the plastic remember coke can break down things really easy it ca be used to clean an old toilet true check on ther net glass bottles on the other hand can not be corrupt so that is why iyts better---and lokking at prices cheaper than cans n plasticv-stick to glass it is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
