Toss up between this or "Heaven Or Las Vegas" as my favourite Cocteaus album. Heat Added, Musette and Drums, classic!

With you there with Heaven or Las Vegas. This, Garlands and Victorialand were the only Twins album's I didn't already own on CD, so of course was well pleased when I came across it.

Yeah, when he toured the UK in 2006, managed to get to talk to him before his performance and took my boxset and got it signed :)

Personally disagree there, Garlands for me was an ok album but a bit too infatuated with Siouxsie And The Banshees, considering Will Heggie was only on the debut album, although a co-founder with Robin Guthrie, Cocteau Twins have released far better work after Garlands IMO. Cocteau Twins for me were Robin, Liz and Simon, as that was the main core of the band for 13 years.

As I lived in Grangemouth, I'm partisan to the original line up:p

I'd always rate this as my favourite Cocteau Twins album and I think a lot of that has to do wth the fact that it was such a massive leap in terms of writing and sound from Garlands that it really pulled the sonic rug out from under your... er... ears!!! I remember when it was released John Peel played side one (ooh... remember 'sides'?) straight through one night then side two the following night. I still think Tinderbox of the Heart is their finest piece of music.

I still think Garlands is a great album - despite the clear Banshees influence there was something else about it that made me take notice.

That's really cool, so were you old enough to have seen any early gigs locally?
