They have joined up with British Gas now! That would explain why they have stopped with EDF :( Used to like my nectar points with EDF but it is still cheaper for me to stick with EDF.

I don't have Gas or Electric from them but do have Home care, that also counts to receiving the nectar points. Just registered for the points.
Every point counts as I'm stopping with EDF.

I noticed this at the bottom of the page, "If you are a Pay As You Go Energy™ customer, please call 0800 107 0185", but I'm not sure if that means folk on a pre-payment meter or not?

Used to do this with EDF - they lost nectar to BG. I hated BG before but now I really dont like them. Worst service ever.
#13
Won't accept my Nectar card number either - says I must enter it with no spaces, etc - which I did!
#14
It won't accept my nectar card either!

Hot. Thx. Just registered no problem

Ring up BG and tell them that you're with Nectar and you want to register your card. The addition of Nectar is REALLY new so there's still a lot of teething issues. Call centres, however, will be able to take the card details.
The amount of Nectar points you can get with BG are obscene; you get points for signing up, points for paying your bill by Direct Debit, points for going with paperless billing, points for going dual fuel... if you're a green, good little loyal customer you can get a good few thousand points in a year.

Forgot to add - you also gain points if you're with them for kitchen appliance cover.

I work in the IT department of a call centre that does outbound BG so I get a few pointers :)

With E-ON you get Tesco clubcard points(1 point for every £2 you spend on gas and electric) and you get it on Pre Payment meters as well!!!
plus if your are not with E-ON and you sign up in a Tesco store via a E-ON sales agent you'll get a welcome bonus of 1000 tesco clubcard points (500 points for each fuel)
#19
Thanks - registered ok.

How is this a deal? You do realise that 100 Nectar Points equates to 50p?
#24
i could be wrong, but isn't 100 nectar points worth less than a quid? I think it might actually be 50p!!
#25
1,800 points = £9
#26
ill do it tomorrow, cant be bothered tonight.

At what price do deals usually start?
If you're with BG and some of those things apply to you then it's a deal.

Thanks you ,very handy my bill comes to nearly £800 quarter

How is this hot? There are as many negative comments on here as positive ones, and to get points worth 50p for committing to a company that is normally among the most expensive seems like a complete non-deal to me.

However, many contributors to this site never fail to astound me.

Don't copy and paste your Nectar number - type it in with no spaces and you will be fine.
#33
NB: The 100 bonus points was for the FIRST DAY only! As of today, you no longer get 100 points just for signing up.

I sent them an email last night telling them that the website would not accept my card details. They phoned me up today and registered the card over the phone so I'm happy! :)

Yes. If you don't see the points reflected on your Nectar balance 14 days after your bill, ring them up and let them know.

Also, for anyone joining here's a tid bit of info:
If you're given a credit offering (not applicable to all customers) when you change over to BG, they give you a choice on how to receive your credit - you can receive it 12 months after your first bill or incrementally via Nectar points (a lump amount then a set amount each quarter to make up the value of the credit offered). If you choose the money over the points, you gain points on the money.

For example, if you spend £800 a year on dual fuel and receive £100 at the end of the year, giving you £700 total, you will have earned points on the full £800. So, you essentially gain points and money off your bill that way.

I'm not pro-BG by the way, I'm just providing extra info where I can. BG can't match the rates we're getting at our household as we're on a... complicated tariff.
