This looks great, especially for someone who, like myself, generally fails to cook a decent boiled egg.

Pop it in the pan with your eggs and it will change colour to indicate when they are soft, medium or hard boiled. It apparently works no matter how many eggs are in the pan, and whether you start with boiling or cold water.

Reviews are *cough* eggcellent!!

Amazon price is £2.95 (RRP £5.99) - dispatched in 2-4 weeks.

Well I have to say I am eggtremely dissapointed in all these eggative comments. I think you are all a bunch of bad eggs.

When mine comes through the post, and I am dipping soldiers in my perfect egg, the yolk will be on you! :p

I have one of these and it haven't failed yet. I have always been able to read the timer, even in boiling water (just turn it down sightly).
#7
thanks for your eggstreamly good comments. you just saved mw from wasting my money!

Im suprised at the negative comments. I have one an I cannot fault it. Perfect eggs everytime for me!! Just put them in cold water after and peel when they're cold - Spot on!

Just a point - the ones in poundland aren't the proper ones, they are a cheap version and probably wont be as good as the original ones - although I haven't tried them...

I've got one of these, too and it's BRILLIANT!!!!

Paid about £5 for it many years ago - I've always been useless at judging the correct length of time for nice runny yolks by myself!!

Damn is it lunch time yet!!

Oh well, it is a 24 mile round trip for me if I wanted to go to 'poundland', so I am happy to pay an extra £1.95 and have it delivered to my door...........:-D

I have been using one of these for quite some time and it works flawlessly and reliably. As someone else pointed out, if you can't read the display then turn the heat down a bit so it's not boiling furiously :p

There's only one caveat - I've tried two different ones (also one at my Mother's) and although they both work reliably every time, they are slightly different as to how the egg is cooked in relation to the markings, i.e soft -hard etc. I had to gage exactly where on the display I like my egg done but now I know I take it out at that point every time and it's always the same - cooked perfectly! Just takes a bit of trial and error to find the sweet spot.

Just ordered one, for under £3 delivered, it's worth the gamble. I simply cannot boil an egg, it's so sad but with the help of this little gadget, it'll be perfect eggs all around from now on ;-) Heat added.

You're missing the point... it doesn't matter what temperature the water is, how many eggs or how much water you use, the eggs are always cooked the same. You don't have to wait around with your stop watch in hand for the water to start boiling.

Admittedly it's not much of a hardship to time them manually but this is easier and completely fool proof.

OK but how much?

When my g/f wants boiled eggs we have sex and she uses that as a timer, but then she likes her eggs runny.

We hear it start to boil then start the timer on the microwave, but I will add, however long my Dad boiled an egg it was always hard;-)
