Just picked one of these up from my local. Can't really go wrong for the price. Reviews generally are good.

Featuring 16 torque settings, electric brake, 13mm keyless chuck, soft grip and spirit bubble. Supplied with 1 hour charger, 6 Drill Bits, 8 Screwdriver Bits and a Bit Adaptor.

2 x 1.3Ah Ni-Cd Batteries
3hr Charger
2-Speed
13mm Keyless Chuck
16 Torque Settings
Electric Brake
Fan-Cooled Motor
Soft-Grip Handle

The above was copied from the website, and as you may have noticed at 1st it states 1 hour charger, and then 3 hour charger. I can verify it is a 1 hour charger :)

Great price for a 24V - ours is a different make but we use it for everything including drilling into stone walls etc which you struggle to do with anything less powerful. Hot!

Thanks chaps.
Gotta be better than my B&D 12v oldie. ;-)

I bought two of these about a month ago (one for drilling , one for screwing - saves changing the bits over when doing a big job) They are great value, and am pleased with them. They're fine for drilling into masonry, although the charge doesnt hold for ages. As I bought two I have 4 batteries, so not a problem for me.

Got one on Saturday. Very happy with it. Excellent VFM with a 12 month guarantee.

Heat & Rep left for the OP on this, my old drill of 5 years had taken a good bashing (even so amazing for a cheapo Power Devil of £20 has served the house very well) and been after a Cordless this fit the bill. Ordered from store on Saturday, was ready to collect in store last night. Haven't tried it on several of the jobs I have in hand yet, but amazed at the quality for the money.

Several negative comments to go with the good ones on the website, however I wonder if those that have broken it have actually used the drill correctly (mistakingly whacking it on maximum and thinking high gear for maximum power into masonry etc etc) I am amazed at the quality of the instructions and tips with it not being in pigeon Chinglish, and a no fuss 12 month warranty.

For £24.99 it seems quite a steal, its no Makita but for the household DIYer it seems better than the usual Aldi Power Tool deals, certainly was unimpressed when I checked out a cordless Aldi drill for about the same price a few months ago.

Hope the price holds until the weekend. As the previous poster, this will be great for the average DIYer like me:geek:

Can't vouch for now if its £24.99, when I was in store and reserved it on saturday (none in stock) they had a poster up for it on the wall, paid up front, collected it last night. Certainly as Direct Power is their own brand I bet they have deals quite regularly on these.

Cannot vouch for the charge as not used it yet, but it charges each of the battery packs in an hour, and the charger has a circuit cut out when batteries have charged too. Very heavy unti with the battery attached, but ergonomics are pretty good, support handle can be rotated between the side and down as extra handle support in front of the main handle whilst still giving clearance to the depth guage.
