#4
Good price thanks, though I could only make it £19.49 too.
#5

#6
Just dont forget cdwow dont like release dates its a case of when they can be bothered.
suspended#7
arent there some £2 cdwow voucher codes?
#8
Yeah, I ordered from cdWOW and I seriously doubt it'll arrive on the 30th! They are crap at delivering things on time.
#9
Played the demo was exellent.

I suggest when it comes to CDWOW vouchers & using Quidco you check out Gary_Rips CDWOW thread to maximise your savings & check ALL valid/current codes......

£18.99 was the cheapest I could get it. Not sure if I'll get quidco.

Followed the www.quidco.com/cdwow (log in), go to cd-wow site.
Then goto the link from this page http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?p=175454
Makes the game £19.99, then used a £1 voucher.

Pretty impressed considering it's still £26.99 over at play.com

I'm a n00b to quidco, should it appear in my account instantly or after a few days?

Thanks again danielcraig007 for the spot! Voted hot

I'm downloading the demo now to see if it'll run on my PC.

If not it looks like I'll be searching for the new pc deals on here too!

I always upgrade my pc when a new C&C comes out!

There is a PC spec checker here if you want to see if your pc is going to be able to handle it.

Wow £18.49, total bargain.

Thanks.

Brilliant price, I've been looking forward to this one for months.

Heated and repped.

Thanks for that link...WHen I went to the site though it was priced at £20.49..
I went through quidco (the first time I have used it) and followed the advice..the price then dropped down to £19.99...
Then I added the £1 voucher code that I had been sent from Cd-wow and it went down to £18.99
I am still not sure how quidco works yet though!

Voted hot and rep given

A great find - Thanks op. Voted and rep given.

I already had a £7.99 CD-Wow voucher (from Pigsback), so, with Quidco, I managed to bag it for £11.88.

I only hope the game delivers the goods now... I was tempted to buy "Supreme Commander" instead of this.
#19
This is a fantastic deal!!! My first time sign-ing up to quidco and cd wow, i followed all the instructions on the guide and it all worked, bargain deal!!!

Just to confirm, i went for the kane edition, i work it out as...

£27.99 before any discounts.
£2 off for using an hsbc link = 25.99.
£1 off discount code on checkout = £24.99
£1.57 off via quidco cashback (i bought a tom petty best of album for £6.49 also)

Total price about £23.50!

Oh and thanks for the system checker, i'm just over required...

Just a quick note to people using affiliate link+discount code+quidco: cd-wow declined quidco for all my 2007 orders when I combined the three (6 out of 6 orders, good job cd-wow); don't be disappointed if that happens to you. This is still a good price, even w/o quidco.

Got that one as well and its REALLY good, different to C&C in many ways but there is that sort of similarity to them both. You can download the C&C 3 demo but you need broadband as its over 1Gb!!
#22
Thanks to OP. C&C was the first PC game I ever purchased. Gone for 1 at £18.49. Quidco tracked but if it is declined, it is still a bargain.

If anyone has a moneybookers account (thorugh matched betting) you can go through there link on the website and get another 20% off for 1 time only. Took another £3 off when purchasing and still accepted all other codes.:w00t:

Not exactly suprising - they aren't going to pay twice for being linked to, not unreasonable to say £2/£1 off link OR quidco.

Good offer.

Be warned. This game guzzles resources like nobody's business.
I downloaded the 1.17GB demo. The installation itself took an age. Just moving between different stages of installation took an unbelieveable amount of time. I thought it was just the PC I was using but I tried it on another PC and it was the same.

After I actually got the demo installed the demo does a check of your hardware and applies approriate graphical settings etc. It set the game on virtually the lowest settings you can get. I tried it out under these settings and I found it to be unplayable. The graphics were diabolical. I could hardly make head or tail of what was going on. It was almost like a 5 year old had drawn it with crayons. I couldn't play it like that. I increased the graphical settings from very low to about between low-average. It looked noticibly better. I was actually able to play it. Although it was very very very very slow. Each movement/order seemed to take quite a while to register. I thoroughly enjoyed the demo. It was great. You get two single player levels both GDI and a skirmish mission I think. Some of the units are awesome.
The actors in the FMVs are alot more recognisable than in previous C&C games. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Overall I was very impressed with the demo. If I was new to the C&C genre I doubt I would have been nearly as patient with the installation, settings and extremely slow speed with it though. I would love to see how this game is on an up-to-date machine.

The machine I was using is Centrino 1.7 Ghz processor, 1GB RAM and 128MB nVidia Geforce 5700 FX graphics card. If you are going to attempt to run this demo/game on comparable/inferior hardware to this expect to be disappointed with demo/game performance.

Hello.
Thank you all for the rep and heat.

I have an Intel Celeron 2.8ghz cpu and it says it will need p4 processor, would this matter?

Thanks.
#27
Daniel Craig.
Sorry mate but I think that you're machine is going to choke.
I was using a centrino 1.7Ghaz which has superior level 2 cache and is equivalent to a pentium 4 3Ghz

Unfortunately celeron chips have inferior FSBs and level 2 cache to both Pentiums and Centrinos.

It will struggle big time I reckon unless you have loads of RAM (2GB) even then I wouldn't back it.

You could probably manage it on the very lowest settings but how you will be able to enjoy the gaming experience is another matter.

Good luck.
(rep and heat added by the way)

Hello.
Thank you. I have 1GB ram.
Well I was hoping to get this game since I like the C&C games, but I don't think I will bother if I have to buy a P4 chip.

Can I vote my own post cold? LOL.

Thank you for your help Andrewolu.
#29
You're welcome.

I doubt your RAM will be enough. I too have 1GB.
I would recommend that you download the demo and see how your machine handles it.

If it struggles with the demo it will probably stuggle more with the full final game.

Hi all, used the voucher section for ages just started using the forum, sorry to go a little off topic but after 10/15 mins of playing this demo my PC shuts down no blue screen no error message on restart nothing, recently upgraded to vista along with a slightly better graphics card. Got a feeling it may well be a PSU problem but any ideas greatly appreciated??!!??

Can anyone help me find a cpu which would run this game fine? :)

I'm running a standard Dell E520 with Pentium dual 2.8 processor, 1Gb RAM and x1300 graphics card. Demo runs fine, as does Supreme Commander.

To all those who think you need a monster of a pc to run c&c3,

I have a fairly old and what most people would say is out of date to play the latest pc games, it's an athlon 2500, 512mb ram, ati radeon 9800. The game plays great and sets itself to medium graphics which look amazing, anything below looks shockingly awful but it's good to see that they've made a good attempt to allow people to still play at a reasonable speed. I've not tried the higher settings yet but it looks and plays great as it is so I'm not really bothered about trying the higher settings.

So if you've got at least what I've got then you should be fine, is that centrino processor a budget processor? I thought it was a laptop processor, maybe that could be the problem?

Please post your spec, my other pc did that but didn't meet the minimum spec, I only have onboard graphics on that.

Edit - just read your post again, assume your pc is up to standard, I think your problem could be Vista, lots of people having problems with Vista, no-one really sure whether it's officially supported or not. It may well be your PSU but that's not something we can be sure of from here! Does your PSU play up at other times? Or do you think it's overheating as it's underpowered?

I bet on it being Vista that's screwing you over, downgrade to XP for a couple of years. Unless your gonna need to make use of directx10, but you need a monster of a pc for vista and be prepared to put up with plenty of bugs that come with a brand new operating system that have been ironed out with XP.

Note you will need a top spec PC to play this game with a decent frames per second. I tried the demo on my AMD 3400/64 with Radeon X800 Gto2 and it only just played OK. Great game though.

What settings was that on? Did you manually increase the settings? I can't understand why it only just plays ok on yours but plays really well on mine and yours is a much higer spec. The only time mine slows down is when a nuke hits my base, but that's not very often so I can put up with that!

I am running on

Athlon 64 3200 with 1GB RAM and a X800XL graphics card.. The game sets itself to high everything but leaves anti-aliasing off, minimises some of the shadow effects and keeps resolution at 1024x768. Looks fine but could be better. The game plays well though. This is on Vista Home Premium. Strangely enough I have had no issues running games on Vista :).

Hhhmmm, they have taken the money from my bank, unusual in my experience as pre-order most companies usually take the money when they send. Anyone else experienced this?

Me too, maybe they've received the first batch early and are posting them now.

Runs brilliantly on mix of med/high on my dual core 1.66ghz laptop. I suspect the dedicated 256mb X1600 has played a hand in that though.
