Does anybody else remember International Karate+ ? If that was on here then we'd be onto an even bigger winner! Still Hot as it is though :)
#2
I remember it! Way of the exploding fist was great too. If only Beachhead & World Games was on it as well... ah those were the days!
#3
Wow, I think I'm going to get this just for Firelord and Uridium. Thanks for sharing this :)
#4
i remember the 101 games cassette, where my mates and i would spend a weekend going through every game until we finished all to see who was overall best lol

This unit can be hacked or modified to act as a real commodore c64. I got one last xmas and was interested so looked it up on google. I must have deleted the links off of my computer but a quick search found these

http://www.bb-shopping.com/Article:-Commadore-64-DTV-Hacks-and-Cracks-Commodore-64-Hack-C64-DTV-30-in-1-Retro-Game-Console-Gaming.html

the one i found last year showed exactly how to make a fully functional c64 complete with keyboard and tape drive but I can't find it now

Damn shame there's no Woolworths in Cambridge any more :(
I've been wanting one of these bad boys for ages.

The amazing thing is that inside that joystick is a full reimplementation of the C64, it's not an emulation. There are headers for a second joystick, the C64 disc drive, a PS2 keyboard, ... there's lots of resources online for hacking this.
#7
Ahh, if it only had Flimbo's Quest.
#8
Has anybody actually found this item yet on the web site? I can't find it anywhere. Used to love the C64 :)
#9
I've got one already - got it YONKS ago!

BUT

If you look at the game list - it says Karate Champ A and B

Well CUDDY - that very game IS International Karate!!!! This must be the American version as thats what it was called over there:thumbsup: :-D
#10
Yeah, Tower Toppler is actually the Hewson game Nebulous. Looks like they could license the games but not the names in some cases.
#11
Sorry Yomanda, it's in-store only. It's on Amazon & Ebay though if you local Woolies doesn't have any left.

z0mFg! I'll be off to grab one later and bring it back and hook it up to the composite on my 2407WFP... ridiculously enlarged blocks of pixels here I come!

Thanks markopoloman

For those who fancy a bit of C64 nostalgia on their PC, you can get a good Emulator here.

There is also one that uses Flash here. Not tried that one though. Might not be as reliable.

You can get your ROMs from www.c64.com.

I know! that was my first (fav) video game. Classic
My dad only completed it once.

I remember many days with my mates playing on the C64, going to have to go out and buy this. Games I mainly remember having the most fun with were Summer games 1&2, plus winter games, all because you could compete against each other. Anyone remember the platform game Bruce Lee?

Well, it's very similar anyway, Karate Champ is actually an arcade game that was converted to various formats and is said to be the biggest source of inspiration to Archer McLean's two International Karate games some years later.

Yes, that's the one :-D

Classics for me were Bubble Bobble, Paperboy, Ghosts'n Goblins, 1942, Green Beret, Outrun, Bomb Jack, Marble Madness, Toobin... :whistling:
#27
I used to love Paradroid(one of the most addictive games ever),Skool Daze and Attack of the mutant camels:thumbsup: .

Voted hot hot hot!

The C64 certainly had some classics, but not sure if I would find them fun to play today.
Favs were Summer and Winter games as already mentioned (except having to fast forward and rewind the tape depending on events!!), Attack of the mutant Camels I think was my first C64 game, along with Motor Mania. Remember playing that all night....those were the days.

And of course Elite, still think that was an amazing game.

Anyone remember Racing Destruction Set ? that was a great 2 player game at the time

How about a PC conversion of the 64 game:

Uncle Scrooge - yes, you are correct that Karate Champ was an arcade game that was converted to various formats...........

But the game included is International Karate - but re-named for the American market back in the 80's.

Not as good as the ATARI 800.

Now that was a computer & 1/2

Just about everything nowadays has C64 emulators though. Be it PSP, xbox, , pocketpc, palm os, dreamcast, PC, Mac etc. Ok theres a bit more work involved but if you can play C64 on practically anything.
