Last week I reserved a 2m serge protector extension lead that I'd seen on here to collect. It was listed on here and on Argos website for £4.79 but when I went into the store and give my reservation number it was coming up as being £9.99.
I kicked off and asked to see the manager who was funny as hell with me and said that they get numerous people each week complaining that an item they reserved was cheaper at the time of reserving it and told me that you reserve the item and not the price. I got the impression she thought I was lying.
Fortunately I have a HTC phone and showed her the email, the text doesn't have the price on it, and she reluctantly honoured it.
I'd strongly advise anyone who's reserving offer items there to go in with proof.
I checked the price of the serge protector online as soon as I got home and it was still showing as £4.79 so I'm assuming that sometimes the prices online do not match those instore.

The duty manager was correct in saying that you reserve the product, not the price, however Argos do usually honour reserve prices if the price increases within 24 hours of your reservation. There are very rare instances that the online price does not match the instore price, however the store must honour online prices, as long as they are current & valid.

I think that you will find that if it is a genuine pricing error regardless of whether it is online or not, if the mistake is noticed before the transaction is finalized they don't have to honour anything.

Correct, if the price isnt valid (eg a misprice) they don't have to honour it. However, if the price is correct and valid, they will honour the online price instore, like I said, price diferences between the website and store price is very rare.

I can confirm this deal, I mentioned my luck in the Argos discount voucher thread but assumed it was just a local store error. Went in to purchase two of the 8.99 jobbies and got the £29.99 ones. I noticed the cat number stuck to them was that of the cheaper product.

Anyway, reserved another two for tomorrow as need a few more of them, if I get 2 of the £30 again then bonus!

Went in to the Scarborough store on the 26/07/10 to get the original £8.99 white 10 socket tower.
Cashier did indeed mumble something about a replacement and gave me the above.

Just bought a black one of these at Aldi for £14.95, too. Ah well...the Aldi ones probably better...
#16
I was given the £29.99 too, so reserved another and got the same. £60 worth of sockets for £17.98.

Tried it in Margate, they came out with a plastic bag with some pieces of white plastic clanking around in inside, which was claimed to be an extension lead. Looked to me like they were factory seconds the way they were packaged, if you'd paid £18 for that you'd be livid.

Anyhoo, instantly went to the customer service desk because 'I hadn't realised it wasn't a surge protector'.
