No its a matt screen.

Cheaper than some of the other netbook deals around.

Does only have the 3 cell battery but depends on your needs whether that's a limitation or not.

im guessing not, but which net books have the internal sim slot so you can bin the dongle. I know the dell 9 mini has but it's not a nice netbook apparently.

Not all mini 9's have an active 3G slot......
but it is definitely one of the best netbooks in that price range imho!!!!!!

Looks quite nice, how does it feel compared to the Aspire One (which looks a little tacky from the photos)

bad bad mistake buying off comet, as you said tesco returns excellent, if anything goes wrong you have more chance of getting blood out of a stone than getting a refund

3 cell battery means you will get about 90 minutes on battery power in the real world.

I would recommend the Samsung N130 if you can get it for a god price. There is a £20 rebate from Samsung at the moment, so you should take that into account. I got mine for £187-ish after cashback.

Try the Advent 4213 as a refurb unit at Dixons. That comes with a SIM slot in. Not a bad deal for £179.99. http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/Computing/Refurbished+Netbooks/ADVENT/4213/119243

NC10 is the way to go, well until next year when it's dual core brother comes out ! :)

Where did you get your N130 from? cheapest I've seen so far is about £235 before cashback. I'm after one!

Windows 7 has been tested and run on netbooks with this spec. The Starter version is quite light on features so bear that in mind. Always worth upgrading to 2Gb RAM though.

Then wait for the triple and quad core? There is no need to say WAIT as the deal is decided NOW whether it is HOT or NOT.

Bear in mind that HP's technical specifications indicate the maximum amount of RAM that can be installed is 1GB, so bear that in mind if you have concerns about memory.

Edit - I might have got that wrong! Another member pointed out that within the following hardware service guide, it indicates that a 2GB DIMM can be installed into the netbook and the details are listed on page number forty-six.

Memory prices go up and down as regularly as Katie Price's knickers.

I got 2GB from Play.com, specifically for my N130:

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/5748690/PNY-PC6400-2GB-800MHz-DDR2-200pin-SoDIMM-Laptop-Memory/Product.html

It was £23.99 when I bought it two weeks ago and £18 a few days before!! Not £39.99 like it is now FFS!!!

RAM is the far-east's oil unfortunately.....

Very.co.uk
One 15% discount code used (see Vouchers)
One Buy Now Pay Later code used (mine was September 2010, current ones are Nov 2010)
8% Quidco
£20 Samsung cashback

End price was about £187.

Very price has gone up by £10 now, so approx £197 would be the end price now.

cool, thanks for the info, I noticed that offer too late though...£40 is a bit cheeky. is there a noticeable difference with the extra 1GB? can it do iplayer without stuttering? thanks
#22
Not sure about iPlayer as I haven't tried that. Whic reminds me...I must try XBMC on it, to compare with my Revo 3610/330!

All netbooks with Intel GMA graphics will have some issues with video players until Adobe releases Flash 10.1, which will supposedly cure this. Not due out until Q1/2010 apparently.

2GB did make a big difference to just about everything. Do make sure you buy the 800mhz (= speed which it came with).

The N130 has an 'overclock' function built in, however that only goes up one notch (or down one!!). I haven't tried other acceleration software to see if it works. 1.8GHZ is suposoedly stable. That's not why I bought mine though!!

I'm running W7 Home Premium and it has no problems with this.

Samsung website downloads are good too - everything that was available for XP is available for W7 and they have auto-update software.

N130 has Office 2007 free for 12 months, which is better than the 1month/3month offerings elsewhere.

As per the earlier replies, the cost of memory has been going up and down like crazy just now I'm afraid! I haven't found a decent deal now since the last one from the 7DayShop deal.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!
