Hot from me because I really like the Compaq over others (Toshiba, Acer)

Specs aren't everything :)

Nice one just ordered one looks like a good spec for the money and with a free carry case too! Also memory is upgradable to 4GB if it ever starts to slow down :)

it's identical in build to my hp 6735s i bought from ebuyer 13 months ago, which has just died!!

why am I drawn to buying almost the same machine?!!!

Been similar price for last 12 months or so, was hoping this would be well under £300 by now.
Infact, work mate bought a similar model with athlon / radeon 3200 for £329 this time last year, only diff is vista and smaller HD. Not voted either way.

Cold from me i'm afraid; 12 months ago this would have been a good price.

Jan '09 I bought a near identical spec. HP 6735s (RM-72, Radeon 3200, Vista Business/XP Pro) from ebuyer for £390 delivered.

Tech. has moved on in the past 13 months, and prices have dropped accordingly.
I don't think a £40 drop (~10%) is nearly enough.

I agree. This is a great little laptop, but... if it was £50 cheaper maybe...

For the same price with faster Intel T3100 dual core, 3GB ram, 320GB hard drive:

Though the GPU (Intel 4500MHD) is significantly slower than the Radeon 3200 in the op's machine.

True for gaming which is not one of the requirements listed. If it was for gaming then neither laptop would be suitable in my view.

Hey, I noticed this the other day that might of interest to someone. Similar specs. Same graphics. Slightly slower processor but 3 gigs of RAM instead of 2. Also, it's refurbished (grade "A2", which essentially means grade B), but for £80 less, I reckon it's a pretty good deal.
