Does anyone know if it's easy to remove all the junk-ware and adware without any of it getting stuck in the registry? Or would I have to format and buy a new copy of windows?
suspended#3
You could reinstall a clean copy of windows because you would have a license key sticker stuck on the bottom
suspended#4
There wouldnt be adware anyway. just a few starter programs
#5
is this any good? plus what are the alternatives?
#6
So I could use my own windows CD and install fresh with that cd-key? thanks jonny

Pc world give out upgrade discs free. (Well they used to) and when i reinstalled windows in past I used one of these, and used the licence key stuck on my tower

Don't get the Comet one, this one is far better, e.g.this has 3GB RAM compared with 2, and this has a dual core CPU as opposed to the single core M900. No contest, this one wins hands down. Also, this one has wireless N whereas the other one just has G.

The licence key on the sticker doesn't have to equate to the one that is actually being used. Use magicaljellybean keyfinder to find out the key that is used and whether it's the same as the one on the OEM sticker >

my opinion, but surely the best buy £299 laptop with 2.2ghz dual core is better than this, even though is only 2gb (easily upgraded).

fwiw, the BestBuy CQ62 may not have a built in webcam unlike the CQ56.

This one is better spec-wise. However, if (by your own admission) you're not overly technically minded, then you may well be in need of more customer support than the more techie types. This is likely to be easier to obtain through Comet than through eBuyer's eBay outlet, same case with returns - always easier to pop down your local shop than return online anyway, esp to an eBay outlet. Whilst I've heard nothing untoward (indeed nothing at all!) about eBuyer's eBay outlet, everytime a posting goes on this site for Argos' eBay outlet there's comments relating to poor quality customer service and problems with the machines.

As a final point, whilst it's generally true that more Megs/Gigs per £ means a better PC, you should always start by working out exactly what you want the PC to do and whether each will achieve those aims, then consider other things like layout, weight etc. No need to buy a Ferrari for the school run, if you get my drift.

My wife was looking for a laptop v.recently and she liked the look and layout of the Sony VAIOs. After some research I found the AMD processors were regarded inferior to Intel core ones that could be got on similarly priced machines from other brands, but at the end of the day she's gonna use it for skype, email, browsing the web and watching DVDs, so the spec was easily up to the job. Anyway, good luck.

I think you will find an ebay outlet will give you better customer service then a retail outlet like comet.

If you said to an Ebay outlet jump, they would say how high, for the simple reason they have no input over the feedback and can't moderate it to make themselves look good. And if you got treated badly when you bought a refurbished laptop and posted negative feedback about it I don't think they would sell very many more laptops.

Nope, they are still out of stock...
Personally couldn't care less if you buy this or if you buy that or if you don't buy anyh, but its only a decent deal from bestbuy if you can actually get one
